From arriving at the reception, to breakfast in the morning, the staff have the most wonderful manners, are the most polite, friendly and helpful people one could wish to encounter.
Nothing is too much trouble, they are real credit to to the owners of this little gem of a hotel, very comfortable, clean and the food is to die for!!
Full marks to all involved.

We've just got home from a fantastic weekend spent at The Imperial hotel in Great Yarmouth. Having been extensively refurbished the hotel now is like new inside. From the minute we arrived all the staff were friendly and welcoming and our room (231) had also been totally renovated to a very high specification with a top of the range smart TV, great wifi reception and nicely decorated.

We booked through travelzoo and upgraded to a sea view room which was definitely worth the extra. The deal also included a £35.00 allowance for an evening meal in Café Cru where again our expectations were blown away by fantastic cuisine and a great team of staff.

We will definitely be returning soon

Room Tip: Its worth upgrading to a sea view room

The Hotel is one of the aging traditional independents in this seaside town, overlooking the Beach.

The rooms are relatively small. but comfortable with large en suite bathrooms. However, the noise is sometimes due to relatively thin internal walls.

Check-in is quick and easy and the staff are pleasant and helpful.

The big plus is the quality of the food and dining. Cafe Cru, in the basement, offers excellent food at decent prices.

All in all an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: The "Theme" rooms offer a sea view and have in-room refrigerators. Family rooms available...

We spent the weekend at this hotel. We arrived on Friday afternoon and had difficulty parking the car as the carpark was full. Finally we found a space and went to check in. Reception were friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the first floor and for some obscure reason had an instantly forgettable name instead of a number. The room itself was extremely well equipped. We wanted for nothing - except perhaps a bath! The shower, however was large, easy to use and the towels big and fluffy. We had a hospitality tray with fresh milk in the 'fridge. There was a safe on the floor of the wardrobe but neither of us could get down low enough to read the instructions as to how it worked...one would have to lie on the floor. The room had a huge balcony and faced out to sea. There was an ironing board, iron and trouser press. The lighting was excellent. There was air conditioning.
Our package included dinner and breakfast. The dinner option included food up to £35.00 per person for dinner. I doubt that we actually spent this amount even though we had 3 courses. It might be better to pay for what you eat.
The dinner menu is extensive and the food is excellent. We chose crepe suzette as our dessert on both nights and the man who cooked it at the table was not only extremely proficient but also very pleasant. In fact all the staff we met were convivial and seemingly pleased to see us. Service was effective and unobtrusive.
Breakfast was all silver service so no wandering around the dining room looking for things to eat. We both had haddock on each day which was cooked to a high standard and was a decent size and nice and thick. Again, the service was very efficient.
All in all this is the sort of hotel one would like to return to. We may well do so.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view.

In January 2013 I wrote that Norfolk Area of the Triumph Stag Owners Club (www.stag.org.uk) were looking forward to returning to the Imperial in January 2014. Well, for the 18th year we have just had another fantastic time at the Imperial. 76 of us sat down to marvel at their catering standards for such a high number of guests, plus the military precision of their service. Moving to the separate Ballroom we danced (and drank) into the early hours to the superb 50s & 60s Rock & Pop Band, the Wild Ones (thewildonesuk.weebly.com)

Sunday morning breakfast on the covered (and heated) Terrace was beautiful with sun streaming in and views across the sea and dunes. An ideal hangover-recovery environment! Ensure you try the Imperials creamy porridge - their kippers have a great reputation too.

Most of us extended our weekend with a Gourmet Evening on the preceding night. This gave the Imperial the opportunity to show off their prowess in fine food and fine wine. We were suitably impressed as usual.

The fact that we already have a date pencilled-in for 2015 tells its own tale. Thanks to Nick, Aileen, Janine and team for another memorable weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and perhaps treat yourself by booking one of their special themed rooms with a ba...

Good location, friendly & helpful staff. Hotel looks good from outside with it's front facing terrace restaurant but the inside needs to be updated. Hotel has an old rackety 2 man lift which seems to have come from the 20's. Rooms are quite dated with a charge of £100 per night in Jan. I think is over the top. Food is good both breakfast & evening meals. Car parking is easy along side hotel.

We were taken to the Imperial Hotel for fish and chips in the Terrace. Wonderful. The tartar sauce was so good we had two extra dishes and this was somewhat naughty! The chips were cooked to perfection, the fish was soft and moist in a crunchy crisp batter. Small suggestion. Serves with mushy peas not garden peas!

So what I hear you say! The terrace is heated with electric heaters, knee rugs are provided and you get a stunning sea view from the table. The hotel is family run I believe and they could not do enough to make our visit a pleasure. We drank a couple of excellent bottles of Frost Pocket Sauvignon Blanc that was sold at a very fair price and kept cold in a small plastic shopping bag filled with ice. That was cute.

Good job guys!
