We booked this break through Shearings Holidays and after reading other guests comments booked a room with a sea view facing the Pier. The room was on the 2nd floor, not very big but the bathroom needs updating and was not very clean. You have to be an early riser as all you can hear is people walking around in the bedroom above and I expect the people below us had the same problem.

I wasn't impressed with the food. I had breaded fish that looked and tasted as if was a frozen meal and there was only basic veg carrots, peas, green beans. Can't comment of the sweet as we never chose to have one.

We were not impressed by the bar staff in the lounge. My husband waited at the bar for over 5 minutes before he went to reception for them to serve him and this happened approx 5 times over the 3 nights. Also glasses were left around the lounge, no-one was cleaning tables or collection glasses and the bar person asked us at 10.30 pm on the Friday and the Sunday if we wanted anymore drinks as they were closing the bar.

I would come back to Gt Yarmouth for a visit but would not choose this hotel even though it was in a good position.

Room Tip: Highest floor would be quieter in a morning

stayed in St George hotel in october as part of a coach party, all staff were frendly and hard working ( all 4 or 5 of them), romms clean but very mixed match of fittings looked as if all junk shops had been targets, in saying that everything was fit for purpose, en-suit had been updated but really small ..no breathing out if your not skinny !!! food .. was varied but basic and in most cases eddible, it was either fine or just ok ..nothing very special at all. evening entertainment was ok usually bingo and singers helped pass away the evening. all in all very basic allround but if the price is right i ok for a coach trip if ur realistic and understand that you only get what you pay for... big possitive for summer holiday makers its very close to the beach

This was supposed to be a New years Outing four days and three nights coach trip but the Hotel left a lot to be desired.
The entertainment especially New years Eve was at a real poor standard, there was no organisation at all, no where to dance, well you could but was like postage stamp dance floor.
The meals were good and timings were stict.
The hotel could do with face lift and possible look at rearranging dance area and seating area.
Staff very friendly this was the only plus side of hotel.

Room Tip: Dont get double room cat swing cat in dont be fooled by the double bed photo

The property is a number of Victorian Terese houses knocked together. Sound proofing is non existent and the heating is noisy. The lift can only be described as "heritage" of 1920s style.

But this was really of only a minor problem. Whilst the menu was limited it was of good quality and the staff were excellent, friendly. The bar and reception area was welcoming as was the restaurant. Our room was kept clean. One of the guests said he had been coming for years and would be coming again.

Our agent "UKbreakaways" described this hotel as "Well presented accommodation offering a good level of quality and comfort throughout". This is a fair description.

Room Tip: We were above the entertainment centre and therefore noisy in the evening but all was quiet by 23-00

i recently stayed at this hotel with friends on a coach trip ,i have never stayed at such a run down hotel my room was awfuly laid out no room to swing a cat .a wash hand basin in the corner , the bathroom had a deep step up to it and then 3 more to get to bath ,no heating in there so it was out of the question to have a bath or shower i did complain only to be handed a key to a room with no heating and offered an electric fire , the meal served us on the first evening was near unedable ,the food did improve after the first night ,i must admit the staff work hard but this doesnt make up for the dullness and out of date facillities i shant be returning there .
