Just come back from 2nights at this hotel and have to say not a bad word to say about the place, bedrooms were immaculately clean and the beds also. The food was brilliant and the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Went with Leisuretime Coach Holidays and would travel to Great Yarmouth with them again as long as they use this hotel. Had a fabulous time and great entertainment too.

We visited this hotel for a 2 night weekend break with Leisuretime in Newport which cost £69. As the price included dinner, bed and breakfast as well as the coach travel, we didn't expect 5 star accommodation and this was indeed the case.

Our room was very small, in fact the bedroom door would only open half way as the bed was in the way. The bed itself was comfy and clean and the wall mounted TV worked perfectly well.

The food was very bland with little taste. However, the service was fine and there were drinks offers both nights we were there. Entertainment was provided by a solo singer.

Envy one in our party agreed that the trip overall was great value for money and this included the hotel. It is located very close to but not on the seafront and is a couple of hundred meters from the fun fair. If the weather is good, the town centre is walking distance away although for older people and those with difficulty walking I would advise using a taxi.

The hotel lift carries only two people at at time, so a bus load of elderly visitors take some time to disperse with having the lift stopping at 3 floors, but the annoying bugbear is that you have to open and close the lift doors (2Doors, Inner and outer) manually before anyone else can use the lift. The food was adequate with a choice to pick from. The only other thing that annoyed me is the the free WiFi does not seem to reach above the ground floor, you have to ask at the desk for the code to access the net. Our room 210 had a wardrobe with the rail to high for my wife to reach 6ft 6inches at least so if you are small ask for a pair of steps.

After reading other reviews I really wondered what we were going to be stating at. I wasn't expecting the Ritz and didn't get the Ritz. We had a clean comfortable hotel. Our request for a lower floor was honoured. Our room was of ample size with plenty of storage. The shower was rather small and I did find the floor in need of a slip mat. The food was reasonably presented but it would has been even better if better quality breakfast cereals and sausage and bacon were used. The evening meal was fine. The hotel is a view minutes walk from the Wellington pier so very well situated. We enjoyed the evening entertainment and found bar prices reasonable.
The staff were helpful and friendly
I would say the major downfall from out point of view was the difficulty in getting a mobility in and out of the hotel. There is a ramp but it is very steep so my partner had to get off and wheel it up or down, not easy with his condition. There is a very sharp turn at the top of the slope and the scooter caught on a bump several times causing damage to the scooter. I would stay at the hotel again but it if my partner comes I will find somewhere a little bit more mobility friendly. Overall we had a good time.

Could not eat the food, when out for the 8days, we stay there. This is the worse hotel, my husband and i have stay at, we went with Caledonian Travel, and have been on several holidays, with them, and have injoyed our holidays, with them, but this hotel spoiled our holiday.

very disappointed with this hotel if you can call it this. waitress staff were very good but we had no working light in our bathroom and had real problems to get this sorted. at one point manager produced a cable reel and wanted to run this from our bedroom and put in a table lamp!!!!!he was dismayed when i refused. in the end he took strip tube from fish tank in reception and this one worked(this was the only light in bathroom ---above wash hand basin). also could not turn off radiator in bedroom as there was no indication mark for where off should be and had tried it at different places. could not get manager to understand so just had to put up with it.shower was fixed at approximately 5' so had to bend to get under it to shower. the mattress protector was an old fashioned blanket like one had 50 years ago doubled. i could go on and on with what our room was like and was told no free rooms. would not advise going there. was clean though but shower base needed a lot of elbow grease taken to it.wish i had read reviews before i booked but as we had been with caledonian travel before did not think to do so.
