“You get what you pay for - not a lot.”

I don't like to write reviews that are negative but I would like to save holiday makers having a bad time. The people who run this holiday 'flat' rental are very nice people who will let you just get on with your holiday and not disturb you. There is also a nice flat screen TV. That's where the positives end, sorry. The walls floor/ceilings are paper thin, the upstairs permanent? resident made so much noise just walking about it kept me awake throughout the night - they came in at 2.30am and banged about until 5.30am. The kitchen is poorly equipped with not much in the way of pots and pans nor utensils, some things were pans and cutlery were dirty. On my second night the kitchen bulb, which was only just working anyway, blinked out as it was so old. The handle to the hallway/bathroom came off in my hand and was not held on by the one screw present, must have been like that for some time. I tried to use the hot water heater in bathroom/hallway but it blew not only the fuse in the flat but the main circuit breakers for the house and so was unusable. The shower was a metal cabinet with a mouldy curtain, barely worked trying to get anything other than a warm trickle or cold spray. The main bed was very old and the mattress was lumpy. I am not sure how I would survive a holiday in this flat with a family of four that it is intended as it is so small, to get between rooms you have to walk through the bathroom/hallway so no privacy. On a plus point it is only 50 yards from the sea front and main shopping street. I was 'upgraded' to this rental because I wanted WiFi, I originally asked for single room in another house that said on this website it had Wifi but doesn't - lucky I checked first.

This flat was in the perfect location to a lot of Great Yarmouth's attractions, being only a few minutes to the main town. As well as to the seaside. It was a very great stay and very convenient if you don't wish to travel by car. The flat is cosy and had everything needed for our stay.

“Not for everbody, but suited us well.”

We wanted a cheap little place in the town centre, with a separate room so we could put our daughter to bed on time. Apsley House ticked all the boxes. We got a shabby, dated little bedsit with furniture and decor from thirty years ago, but it's clean enough, everything was as advertised, and it's one street back from the front. I wouldn't recommend it for everybody, but if you're going to turn your nose up at 'shabby and dated', then you probably shouldn't be going to Yarmouth at all.
