“Brilliant holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

We have just got back from a weeks holiday here and we all had a lovely time.
We had paid for a 2 bedroom Thurne caravan but were upgraded to a brand new, 3 bedroom Hemsby caravan which was spotless! (thank you very much Parkdean). Finally, after a few years of being disappointed on holidays, we could just relax and enjoy ourselves. It was such a relief to be in a place where everything worked and everything was clean, and I mean the actual holiday park too.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the entertainment staff were great with our 2 year old. They all remembered his name and really made him feel welcome. He loved Sid & Lizzie, although their patter pretty much went over his head. Their jokes are aimed at an older crowd, but he just loved the fact that he was being entertained and could boogie the night away.
The soft play area was a godsend, although a little small. If Parkdean were ever to spend money on improvements, I would like to suggest extending this area.
Unfortunately, as most of the kids had gone back to school, the park was rather quiet. The crazy golf was shut and it was too cold to use the outside pool, so after a few days in the park, we got a little bored towards the end of our stay. I'm sure in the height of season and when the sun was shining, it would have been a different matter.
I read earlier reviews saying the food was very expensive in the restaurant, and so was not intending to eat there, but it was actually average priced. A child's meal was about £4 with a drink included, and the adult meals were between £8 and £13. We pay this when we go anywhere for a meal, so we were quite happy to pay this here. The food was actually very tasty and the menu varied enough to stop us getting bored with it.
The price of drinks is quite high though. A small glass of wine, a pint of lager and a bottle of water was nearly a tenner. Needless to say, we only ever had one or two drinks a night and just waited til we got back to the caravan and had a drink then.
All in all, we will definitely holiday with Parkdean again, but I think we will try a livelier resort next time. I've got my eye on Trecco Bay.

Room Tip: We asked for quiet location as we have a young child.

Just got back from a long weekend and have had a brilliant time. The staff were all so friendly and helpful which was lovely. Had a couple of problems with the caravan when we arrived, called the reception and a maintenance man arrived in minutes to put them right and due to the problems got an extra night free as an apology. Paid up front for breakfast and well worth it. Food was lovely and as my 2 kids are quite fussy they changed their breakfast to what they wanted straight away. For a small site I thought the evening entertainment couldn't be faulted. The troopers worked hard to keep both young and old entertained at all times which is a challenge. As it was end of season I was surprised by the quality if the outside entertainers (Barry from 'enders!). Swimming pools were clean and warm and open all day for use. Thank you cherry tree for making my 40th birthday weekend great x

We came back from Cherry tree Park on Sunday, 8 September I went with my husband and our18-year-old daughter just for a short break .when we arrived we all said how clean the park looked. We stayed in the hemsby caravan which was very clean and nice looking with a verandah. We had 3 beds. I think a 2 bed would be a bit small even for us. We chose half board for our food. The restaurant is quite nice and clean and food & service was good. Our stay was just out of peak season so was pretty quiet. I can imagine service would be slower in peak weeks. Entertainment was ok with lots of kids stuff ( not for us!) comic on first night just ok. Bingo ok .Barry from eastenders on second night . He was Good and had a photo and autograph with him afterwards. Had Sunday lunch which was very tasty . Overall good. Would go back but needs a better separate adult bar and better table tennis! Crazy golf very basic.

Room Tip: Ask for a caravan not too near the club house. I imagine it would get quite noisy. Especially in pea...

We stayed at this site with our two children after a five and a half hour journey. On arrival was looking forward to the friendly staff I'd read so much about! The lady on reception was ok but wasn't overly friendly just doing her job. Arrived at the caravan and opened the door to what should have been the welcome mat! This mat was dirty extremely unclean and smelt terrible! but after such a long drive the least of our concerns. However there was a terrible smell inside the caravan and we could not decide if it was dog or damp or both, it was disgusting and could not even be masked by a full bottle of impulse! The damp on the wall and curtains in the bathroom, unacceptable. To my surprise there was a postcard from the person who had cleaned our caravan. If I had been them I would have been to ashamed to put my name to it. All I can say is they must have no sense of smell! The food was average not very hot on arrival and the rack of ribs I think came from a pigeon! The staff who took the food order were a mixed bunch. The younger girls were pleasant however the same cant be said for the slightly older woman who took the orders. Although she would try and smile politely her face said it all when customers would change their minds or ask a question, personally that job is not for her! The toilets by the arcade were usually found with number two splattered all over the bowl and would be in the same condition hours later. The lifeguards young but on the ball and kept both pools clean, a credit to the parkdean. The entertainment is not what you would see on the theatre, out of tune singing and a comedienne who was not funny in the slightest! A few inappropriate comments from both the comedienne and the magician which were not for the ears of children. Children's entertaiment was ok but on to late. The bingo was ridiculous, not allowing kids to join in! They had the option of sitting at the table quietly with parents or sitting at the back of the room colouring with one of the entertainers. when your little one is aged 3 I dont find this appropriate as you like them where you can see them, so it wasnt an option for us. The bingo rules were by far the best, so serious and strict, its a holiday camp it should be fun!!! outdoor play areas were well maintained. The arcade was small but enough for the younger kids to have a play about with. The man who appeared to be looking after the arcade was pleasant. However it was the security staff who were by far the most pleasant and you would even see them collecting glasses. We have stayed at haven and the caravans
there are much cleaner. we were looking forward to a wonderful time after reading such positive reviews however it was very
disappointing and we will not be returning to Parkdean anywhere in the country. Africa Alive a brilliant
place to visit if u get the chance.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this immaculate park which was a great base to visit the surrounding areas. Immaculately clean, very welcoming reception staff - even if we were originally allocated the wrong van initially but was this was instantly rectified. Everything you need for a great UK break. we didn't eat here as we tended to go out so cannot comment on the food. Crazy golf did look a little basic and perhaps could do with an upgrade. We had fantastic weather which did make the stay even more enjoyable.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a privately owned van with sun terrace. you may pay a little more but well worth it if y...

We stayed on this site from 23-30th Aug .. & certainly had the weather ...
Upon arrival to the site I was stunned at how small the reception and carpark was compared to other ParkDean holidays weve had in the past which were all hustle n bustle to wait to get keys etc. So it was a refreshing change to walk in give my name & be served with keys .. even though we were 45 min early ..
The caravan we opted for was what they market as the "Hemsby" It was a new caravan & was immaculate, and came with a washer dryer which was defenatly a bonus.
The café was small and over priced for what they were selling in my opinion, for a family of 4 the price for 4 average meals, 2 deserts and drinks came to almost £75.00 which when you consider the look of the plate I doubt they were cooked in a conventional oven ... and there microwaves must be in overdrive !
Thankfully there is a Tesco about 5 miles away and the next day food was purchased there ....
The childrens amusment arcade is small and compact, and on an evening was completely rammed.
The evening entertainment was a so so affair ... good for the little ones, with the Sid & Lizzie shows to keep them entertained ... but after that ... well the structure of adult entertainment was something to be desired ... ie - female comedian was as funny as having shin splints, and to see the room clear within the 45 mins while she was spewing on about men being lazy etc etc while she was on stage was more amusing ...
Average pricing in the function room again was over the top in my opinion charging premium prices eg - pint of cider, rose wine (medium) bottle of water & a lemonade £18.00
Swimming pools & fitness suite were nice well kept and clean ... these were used a lot .

There is a so called crazy golf there but when I looked .. no one was playing and it was obvious it had seen better days !
For the beach the site is situated about 10 miles from Lowestoft beach the same for Caister on sea .. Yarmouth about 7miles ...

Over all Star rating for me was a three ... its small compact ... overpriced ... and average ...
We are thankful that we had the sun for the week.

just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely little park. We took our dog so kind of expected the caravan to smell a little doggy and be a bit worn if you know what I mean, but this couldn't have been further from the truth, it was almost a brand new caravan and was spotless.
It is a small park, but it never felt crowded or busy, even in the pool on a warm day
However the same couldn't have been said about the restaurant, its not very big but the staff always seemed rushed off their feet. We ordered our food and were still waiting for it an hour later, when we went to ask where it was we were directed to a tiny clock on the wall (not obvious) stating that the waiting time was 45 minutes. having said that, the food when it arrived was hot and delicious
So overall, a great little holiday park, would definitely go back, would just eat out
