We stayed at this hotel but in the motel building which looks like converted garages, there are very mixed reviews with this hotel/motel. Having now stayed here for one night on the 19/04/2014 in room 1 which is a motel room, it is now clear that if you stay in the hotel your experience is very different to that of the motel. We checked in at 5.30pm and as soon as we got into the room we were greeted by a spider on the ceiling. Fortunately we do not have a fear of spiders and just simply put it outside, however lots of people are terrified of spiders, so not a good start.

The room was very warm which may suit some people, there was 2 gas radiators on full blast, they had invidual thermostats so we turned them both to zero and they just would not go off. We then went out for the evening at 7.00pm and returned at 11.45pm to be greeted by another daddy long leg type spider, so we turfed this spider out as well.

We were in bed and asleep by 12.30am and awoke at about 7.30am and made a cup of tea, we had a very good nights sleep the bed was very comfy. We then decided to have a shower to find out that it was simply impossible to control the water temperature if it was not freezing it was scalding hot, in the end we gave up and did not bother having a shower. The shower IS NOT thermostically controlled and is just a mixer tap. When other people in the motel rooms are using the water it cannot be controlled. The hot tap on the sink was also loose and kept moving so that it was difficult to get the hot water into the basin.

We had a lovely breakfast no complaints at all, nice touch was the easter eggs on our breakfast table. The only downside was the miserable waiter, he was not polite, we thanked him everytime he came to the table but he did not speak at all, he did not even smile.

We had to check out at 10.30 am very early for a Sunday so for a room rental of17 hours we were charged £83.00 way to much for the faults that we had with the room, so we spoke to reception and explained the problems. Manager Ian was not available and was supposed to ring me back, which he did not, so I contacted them again on Weds am and advised that I was lookng for a good will gesture of a room reduction of maybe £20.00 for all the problems, again the Manager was not available, but I received a call back from Housekeeping Wednesday evening to be informed that there was no way they would give us a room reduction as we were far to noisy and they had had to refund the people in room 2 as we were so noisy. All I can suggest is that the walls must be paper thin as we are two 53 year olds, who had been out for an evening with friends in California, we do not drink so there was no alcohol to blame. Our apologies to room 2, but we could hear one of them snoring when we got into bed so the walls are definitley paper thin but this is not our problem this is the hotels problem. We could ony have made noise between 11.45pm -12.30am and after 7.30am but it would have been just normal talking.

Then just to top everything off there were cobwebs over the basin in the bathroom and the toilet stopped working, just as were about to leave.

My advice I think the excellent reviews relate to the hotel building and the bad reviews relate to the motel rooms.

However the rudness of the lady who called me on Weds was very unproffessional, when I mentioned that I would be reviewing the hotel her attidude was that I was trying to blackmail her.

My review is not the first that mentions the rudeness of the staff at this hotel. I would truly have appreciated being contacted by the manager under the circumstances.

Room Tip: Do not book room 1 in the motel

We stayed here for 2nights, reserved 4 double rooms and had a fab time visiting family for our mums 80th birthday present. The hotel is on the seafront, location is excellent for the town only a short walk away. Ian the manager was friendly and very efficient at his job. The rooms were very nice, everything you needed. The room was clean, bed was comfortable. There was a lot of choice for breakfast and the staff were excellent.
All the public areas were lovely and spotlessly clean. Bar area superb.
Would definitely use this hotel again.

I stayed one night on a business trip to Great Yarmouth.

The hotel has an excellent location on the seafront just a short walk from town.

My room, No 23, was at the back of the hotel and was quit ensuring that I had a good nights sleep. It was spotlessly clean and the bathroom appeared newly refurbished.

The public rooms were light and airy and pleasantly decorated.

I had an excellent dinner, very good value with a delicious steak for main course and in the morning the breakfast lived up to the same expectations

Thoroughly recommended.
