Wild Duck Holiday Park - Haven
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 2 May 2014

We have just returned from a short break at this Haven site. I am please to report that the lavatory blocks on the touring field have both been refurbished to a good standard, the cleaning crew are as ever doing an excellent job of cleaning and maintaining them, a really nice, efficient team.

Book in was very welcoming and efficient, Debbie the site warden is a joy, nothing is too much bother and she listens to your requests.

The site is as you know a Haven FAMILY holiday camp, at weekends and during school holidays there will be children there, if you don't like kids, DONT GO!. The site is in a managed woodland setting in very sandy soil, the grass is well worn and does not seem to have a chance to recover, but as I said the soil is sandy in wet weather it is not muddy and drained very fast.
Wild birds, rabbits, ducks and squirrels are abundant and the whole site is maintained to a very high standard. The staff are all very friendly, there are few signs about, but those that are there are written in a friendly manner, an excellent touring site offering good value camping weekdays and outside school breaks recommended for anyone.
My wife and I look forward to visiting several mor times this season.
Jeff n Jacquie Golding Canvey Island, Essex.

Room Tip: If you don't like kids(although you were one once) don't go weekends or school holiday time.

Hi Jeff n Jacquie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review.
Here at Wild Duck we are very proud of our unique setting and it’s lovely to read that our guests feel the same. We put a considerable amount of effort into the refurbishment of our touring shower block over the winter period and it’s great to see that our efforts are appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Wild Duck soon.

My Husband and I stayed at Wild Duck Haven Mon to Fri mid April 2014. Our caravan was probably the oldest on the site but it was very clean and well maintained. It was tucked in a quiet corner in Eider and we were able to park our car next to the caravan which pleased my husband immensley! We had a bit of a problem with the gas fire, but were offered a blow heater instead which was fine. The site is set in woodland and is beautiful. The shop and enteratinment area all look like new and while we were there we were very pleased to see no end of members of staff sweeping outside, cleaning windows, cleaning tables and cleaning the arcade machines. We visited nearby Fritton Lakes, Great Yarmouth, Somerleyton House, Burgh castle, Oulton Broad and Beccles while we were there which included lots of walking - exactly what we wanted. We didn't use the onsite pool so can't comment on that but the evening entertainment was fine. The singers weren't bad and we went back each night we were there! I would definitely recommend this site.

Had a brilliant weekend nothing to fault at all was a bit weird at the end with two singers doing a good job and another dancer in background parading about not sure what she was there for, but not a complaint staff were very helpful and the park ranger was very friendly and full of information I would def go again maybe when a bit warmer though

Room Tip: The whole park looked lovely and central

Just got back from a 4 night stay at wild duck, very impressed with this beautiful caravan park which is set in woodland.
We were travelling with 5 children who's ages range from 16 down to 3,they all got involved with the activities on offer which ranged from swimming to archery, fencing and target shooting(these did cost extra £8 per person),our 5 year old enjoyed the mini clubs on a morning which did archery and fencing for 5-8 year olds, they also loved the go karts(we hired a family one which was £12 for a hour,we all had great fun on these!)
There are 2 lovely parks on site which kept them all entertained as well as the tree house.
Our 3 year old was fascinated with the wild ducks which wonder around,he loved feeding them, even had a family of ducks visit our caravan which he loved.
The grounds are beautiful, kept spotless,we saw rabbits, squirrels and of course ducks,we found all staff really helpful and friendly.
The caravan was spotless and well equipped, all beds were already made up for us,cant fault it.
Night time entertainment is very much aimed towards children which kept our little ones entertained, fun stars work really hard to make sure the children are enjoying their selves but we did find by time the adults had started it was time to call it a night because it was on so late, we never really got to watch much of it cos by that time our little ones were tired(maybe could do with starting the adults entertainment a little earlier so kids and adults can both enjoy the night).
There is an on site shop and chip shop(chips are lovely!) also The Sitting Duck pub/restaurant,which has lovely views of the swimming pool, the swimming pool was lovely and warm with seating areas if you dont fancy a swim.
Overall we had a fantastic time at the Wild Duck and will be returning very soon, definitley the best Haven site i have stayed at and we all cant wait to return!

We went here with our 2 year old and he loved it. It had the standard haven entertainment with the benefit of not being rammed with people. The swimming pool was nice and clean with a very comfy viewing area. Food was good and the caravan was clean and comfortable the site itself was beautiful with a nice outdoor area so he could play while we had a cup of tea. Would definitely go again

Stayed here for the 1st time instead of haven seashore.the location is beautiful however on arrival i was met by grumpy reception staff who would rather gossip than help.then when i finally got to the caravan it was filthy.the shower had cobwebs and spiders in along with pubic hair ans the bathroom sink was just as bad.the lving room floor was soaking wet so much so that my 18 month old slipped over banging his head on table and floor.this is a shame as site was lovely and thr sacing grace of the holiday.also security on the entrance from 6pm wrre lovely and friendly.thry made us feel very safe indeed

We visited at he beginning of October. Firstly its a nice park, relatively quiet and good for young kids. However we did have issues with our caravan. On arrival the floor was covered in crisps and mud and the whole place smelled very damp, like wet dog. Husband went to complain while I put the kids to bed, they said they'd send someone in the morning. We tried to have a go ourselves to get it liveable for the night and found an old grey string mop in a cupboard which also smelt frankly, but we gave it a good bleaching and then gave the floor a wash and bleach which helped a bit. The next day the cleaners did come back and did a better job but the floor to the living area was still grim, you had to wear shoes because the thick grime stained socks or feet and our bedroom still stunk of dog. I regret not insisting that they moved us especially as most reviews here seem to be very positive but reception didn't seem that interested, I think they just thought we were trying to get a refund rather than just get it cleaner and owing to the fact we had a 2 year old and a newborn we didn't fight them. so be prepared to stand up for yourself!

Just one tip if you will be cooking in the caravan, great Yarmouth tesco do click and collect so you can pre order food before hand and pick it up on the way. Especially their quick and easy oven stuff!
