Camperdown and the Andover House are an oasis in a rather garish Gt Yarmouth. Booked after surfing Late Rooms et al. Booked in for 2 nights would have preferred a suite but guess what the place was virtually full :) The room although smallish ( it is a converted period building after all) was beautifully clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and and the place itself was smart clean and tidy with plenty of sofas and seating around the bar areas.
Although just of the sea front it was very quiet ( no late night noise considering we stayed a friday and saturday. We only had breakfast but the food was very very good and there was a wide selection.

We love your comments and as a handy little tip... book directly with most hotels and you will pay less ...certainly pay less if you come to us directly anyway :-) best wishes to you both

All the staff were very friendly and professional. The rooms were clean and nicely laid out. Good position in the town although that does affect parking at peak times but its free street parking. We only stayed over one night as it was my in-laws golden wedding anniversary and had arranged to eat in the restaurant. It was a lovely evening, we ate in a small private dining room, the service and food were absolutely first class and special diet requirements were met without any problem. would most definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: we had a small double room as only staying the one night but if staying longer would probably opt fo...

I arrived here not even having a booking on the 2nd August, it was quite late, the lady who sorted out mine and my friends reservations was so pleasant as was everyone through out our stay, I could not ask for more, the rooms were clean, fresh, modern and very well up to date my only down fall with the stay is at the rate of £87.00 for that night, I didn't expect to be kept awake from the people over the road till 5am and the rooms were very hot, no a/c of fans in the room!! On a positive note on my departure I did have a brief word with the gentleman on reception about the noise (over the road) he said as a good will gesture breakfast would be complimentary (full English, normally £3.70) and he would speak to the people over the road, other then this, it was a lovely stay and the staff are brilliant.

I am so sorry that your sleep was disturbed by people on the street. This is something that rarely happens here but we did speak to those involved and feel encouraged by their response. On a positive note, I am pleased that we were able to make it up to you (even if only a small gesture) and that the rest of your stay was okay for you.

We come across andover house on line and decided to book after reading the great reviews and location on line wanting a two night break looked like this was the place for us.
Knowing yarmouth well we decided to book the andover and what a great choice we made.
Check in was simple and a very warm welcome we were shown around while our bags were taken up to our room (no16) for us we were on the 3rd floor so a few stairs to climb.
Room very comfy clean all round really nice the staff were fantastic couldnt do enough to help you and nothing was to much trouble a credit to the industry which is lacking in some places we have stayed.
So all in all would we stay here again?yes we would and we will.
So all in all 5* from us what a great hotel run by good people keep up the good work

I've lived in Great Yarmouth for 18 years and my experiences and thoughts on hotels in the local area haven't exactly been great! - However after moving away and coming back to visit the family I needed somewhere to stay over night.
So my partner and I chose 'Andover House'. Situated approximately opposite The Sea Life Centre which is on Great Yarmouth Seafront. Upon booking the hotel, I was quite unsure of how my experience of the hotel would be. - Having been in the hotel before, I knew the bar area, restaurant and reception area were nice and pleasantly decorated. My first opinions were much differed from the stay on 27th July 2013.

Upon arrival at the House, we were directed by clear signs to the reception area where we confirmed our booking and room. This was simple, easy and quick, no longer than 3 minutes. We were also personally directed to the different areas of the hotel, like a house viewing. The bar area, outside area, restaurant area, breakfast area, conference areas and security features on the house at night. This was a very promising start to a nights stay.
So we were on our way, the hotel hall ways were simple and basic, which is suited fine. We found our room and were more than happy. Just a small room for myself and my boyfriend. The double bed was exceeding comfort levels so we slept like babies, side desks and lamps, small bathroom more than suitable for our needs, desk and chair along with a wardrobe all furnished in top quality modern furnishings. This was perfect!

The next day breakfast was a full English breakfast at an extra £3.75 pp. In the small basement downstairs which is also a conference room suitable for 18 people. The breakfast was a suitable amount cooked superbly! - The staff one of who was working the previous night, still top notch customer service skills. One of the other staff didn't seem to want to serve myself and my partner for whatever reason we won't know. But the male hotel worker remained to his high standards. However the food served was absolutely amazing.

Checking out of the hotel was also simple, easy and quick, like check in. This time being the owner of the hotel. - On our way out it was offered if we needed help with our bags, which was a nice gesture from him and his staff. Definitely recommend to people wanting to stay in a nice Yarmouth Hotel for a reasonable price.

We stayed at Andover House for one night on 27th July. Wellwe seem to have found a quality alternative to the coach tour filled, purple rinse brigade properties most of us have come to tolerate in Yarmouth - the Andover House.

With a rate only a fraction higher than the dreary Travelodge, clean modern accommodation, an almost seafront location, ample parking in the street outside and a restaurant worthy of acclaim, Andover House really is something special in a myriad of average.

CHECK IN
Check-in formalities are undertaken in a small reception room to the right of the main entrance, next to the restaurant. An experience akin to some of the more upmarket hotels, it is conducted while seated in front of a desk. A nice touch that you instantly notice as different. Clever. The young lady who checked us in was both polite and efficient and rather than simply handing us our key, proceeded to show us all the features of this small hotel, pointing out the restaurant, bar, outside areas, and the way to our rooms.

BEDROOM
Having booked late, I chose a ‘small double’. I was pleasantly surprised as this room was more than equal to a large bedroom at home, with an adequate en-suite shower room. The room was clean, and was furnished with a large wardrobe, bedside furniture, writing desk and flatscreen FreeView television. WiFi is free, and the code located inside the ‘Welcome Pack’ in each room. It was fast and reliable.

BATHROOM
Simple, clean and more than adequate.

RESTAURANT
Sadly the restaurant was fully booked for the night of our stay, so I can’t review it personally. However, judging by the menu and the fact it was fully booked I can safely assume that it’s top notch.

BAR
The bar is modern with a real chic feel, and cleverly retains some old charm. The young barman was friendly and polite and really seemed to enjoy working, engaging customers in conversation.

SLEEP QUALITY
We’re having some warm muggy nights at the moment in the UK. So sleep is difficult at the best of times. However my partner and I slept well in the cool rooms, aided by the quiet street below and the window being slightly ajar enabling the sea breeze to filter through.

BREAKFAST
Continental breakfast is included in the rate, but for only £3.70 extra a full Norfolk Breakfast is available, using locally sourced produce and cooked fresh to order. Two staff were on duty for breakfast service (including the young barman from the previous evening), and he continued his friendly service and positive image of the hotel. (Sadly the other lady largely ignored us on arrival and spent seemingly the entire breakfast service cleaning the two unoccupied tables – quite bizarre!)

CHECK OUT
Check Out was conducted quickly and we were offered help with our bags and wished a pleasant day. A really nice touch.

Without hesitation, I will recommend Andover House to anyone wanting that little touch of luxury in Great Yarmouth, and hope that the owners continue to enjoy every success.
