Welcoming Hotel with all you need for a "rest". Breakfast is very good but sometimes is hot buffet style. This is a compromise from a cooked to order breakfast that stands head and shoulders above the buffet.
Rooms are comfortable and Wi Fi is OK.
Lots of information for the birdwatching and wildlife crowd.
Fabulous scenery, great location.

Our third stay here. We had Room 104 which is a very nice large 'superior' room on the first floor corner of the hotel with two aspects and a turret window, plus a spacious bathroom with a large bath and a very efficient shower. The absence of a heated towel rail was a notable omission but the bathroom was particularly warm and there were several radiators in the main bedroom had the weather been cold. Surprisingly for such a large room there was only one useable double 13A power socket, mounted on the desk. Wifi signal was reliable throughout our stay except in the furthest corner of the restaurant.

We dined at the hotel on all four nights. In comparison to previous years the quality of food seems to have improved slightly. The restaurant staff are personable and efficient. The standard of room cleaning is adequate but slightly disconcerting that the cleaner would slip in while we were having breakfast and before we had cleared away clothing and personal effects scattered around our room. On the other hand it was good to see the hotel manager much in evidence during our stay, showing that he is keeping a close eye on things.

The Wildlife Club provided its usual wide range of information about wildlife watching opportunities in the region. This is arguably the main reason why we stay here.

This place was refreshing after B&B's and the breakfast and meals in the hotel were splendid.. Okay, you want to try a real English hotel that reminds you of those you have seen on BBC movies and Alfred Hitchcock. This is it. It's an all in one spot with a restaurant, a pub and it is the wildlife hotel of Scotland. They were launching bird watching and other fauna hikes and visits. Those folks were all charming. What a find! It will be a treasured memory forever.
And Queen Elizabeth stayed there in 1961. How do you beat that?

On business in the area and the Grant Arms Hotel was a central location to meet some close family. What a find! It has excellent rooms, great food and lovely service. The location is ideal also. We'll be back.

Called in here, after a long hike through the local woods, and along the river. We have a Goldie so finding somewhere far a bit of R&R can often be a challenge. The Cafe/bar here looked closed (4.30pm) but in vain hope, I called in to Reception to ask if they could find us a spot for a refreshing cuppa, together with our somewhat damp doggie companion. The young lady could not have been more helpful, invited us in to the Cafe/bar and served us T&C & biscuits herself... The Manager then appeared with a handful of Shapes for our friend... They could not have been more pleasant! The price .. £4.00 what a bargain! Compare that to your average Costa etc.
Would thoroughly recommend to any weary traveller.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at this hotel with a group of people traveling on a tour. The hotel is fantastic, the food wonderful, and the staff friendly and accommodating. It is located in a central location in the beautiful countryside of Scotland.

This is a very nice hotel with good, friendly service.
The food as well is generally very good. The fish is excellent; the vegetarian selections are as well. The meat is a different story and tends to be overcooked and dry. I had pork medallions one night and the flavor was, in a word, terrible. Kitchen tries to please and will create green salads, for example, even if not on the menu.
Packed lunches tend to be meager on the fillings but they van be altered on request. They even produced PB and J when asked.
Our room was clean and well maintained. The shower stall is very small and with a folding door. It can take a bit of doing to get in and out.
Major flaw was the beds. The mattresses on both were well beyond their useful life and should be replaced.
This is the first hotel I can remember staying in that caters so much to the bird watching and wild life enthusiast. As others have noted they offer many suggestions and options on how to spend your day.

Room Tip: not all rooms have access to lift. Our first was on 5th floor in wing. Tough climb with suitcase and...
