We recently spent 3 weeks in Scotland, staying at several B & B's throughout the country. The Dulaig was by far the the best of all. Hosts Gordon and Carol were so genuine, kind and helpful. I left feeling as though I'd made 2 new friends.
I agree with prior reviews about the high quality beds, breakfast, daily treats and accommodating hosts. They accomplish this while allowing you quiet space and privacy. Their home is a nature reserve in itself. I passed a fair amount of time in the back yard watching the wildlife pass through and admiring their gardens.
One of my favorite activities was rising a bit early and going up the street for a morning walk. At the end of the driveway one can walk up a gentle road and be rewarded with a beautiful arched bridge over a stream, sheep pastures and well signed nature trails. Given more time I would have explored that area a bit more.
I have such fond memories of The Dulaig. I will probably compare all future B&B's to the high standard set by Gordon and Carol and doubt I will find an equal. I would love to stay there again and wish them the best.

Thank you for writing your wonderful review of your stay with us.

We really enjoyed having you here and hearing about the places you visited on your days out. .....and that picture you took and sent us of the Heilan Coo is fabulous too! You will be pleased to know that our wildlife is doing just fine as we have baby pheasants now and indeed two days ago another TWO broods of day-old ducklings arrived.

We hope that we may be able to welcome you back to The Dulaig at some future date but in the meantime we are glad that you enjoyed your trip here and that we have helped you to have fond memories of Scotland.

I have fantisized about living in the Scottish Countryside. Coming home to a comfortable sitting room with a lovely view of a perfect garden with a cup of tea and a home made treat was just as I had imagined. My room was better than I had imagined because I had never slept on a hand tied mattress. The bathroom is immense, immaculate and functional with places to put your things out. Decorated, but not so intensely that there is no room for your stuff. Grantown on Spey and The Dulaig are wonderful as a home base. This time, instead of moving every couple of days, we stayed a week. There are so many hikes, castles, distilleries, villlages, wildlife exhibits and beautiful sights easily accessible in a day that we could not possibly exhaust the choices. We will be back for another week and still not be done with this area. As Carol, our hostess said when complimented on the quality of the bed, "If we are going to do a bed and breakfast, we should have the best bed possible and the best breakfast possible". They have succeeded. The attitude of Gordon and Carol permeates the house. Obviously, they enjoy having people in their home who will become their friends. They are a treasure trove of knowledge and advice that can turn your day into something that you will always remember. Should you happen to step in a muddy bog or have a minor problem they are right there to sort out your malfunctions. Do not be misled by the fact that they are Number 7 in Trip Advisor. If they were a hotel with many rooms instead of a house with three rooms I am sure they would get more votes and thus move up in the ratings. As someone who has spent many months traveling in the U.K., this was the nicest place I have ever stayed. I have spent far more and received far less more times than I care to remember. If you want a lively place with a lot a people and activity this may not be for you, but if you are looking for quiet comfortable elegance and a warm welcome this is the place for you.

Room Tip: All three rooms are excellent.

This, without a doubt is a world class accomodation. I have traveled in over seventy countries and have spent an extensive time in the U.K. in some sixteen trips of over three weeks each. Our experience here was the best we have ever had and it was under a hundred pounds per room. U.K. travelers know how boring the standard "cooked breakfast" can get day after day, no matter how well it is done. The daily specials were a real treat and gave us some welcome variety and were done to the highest standard. I am a bed snob and this was like sleeping on a cloud. The rooms are spacious with the best amenities and lovely views. Spotlessly clean. I love Trip Advisor, however, occasionally their rating system does not accurately give enough credit to small places. A small place only has a few people who write reviews. The Dulaig has three rooms and only usually rents two at a time unless a small group requires three rooms. Therefore accomodations of lesser quality with more people get more votes. The Dulaig should and would be Number 1 if they had accomodation for a dozen people. This would destory the charm and value of the experience. It felt more like a friend had invited you for a stay than a commercial enterprise. A true country house experience to come home after a long day and find that the "cake fairy" had visited your room and have a cuppa and sweet treat. I cannot think of enough superlatives to convey what a wonderful place this is.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful.

Fabulous house in the lovely village of Grantown on Spey. Our hosts, the owners Carol and Gordon, were gracious and welcoming. The gardens were in full bloom and beautiful.
10 minute walk to restaurants and shopping in the village center. Breakfast at the dulaig was cooked fresh professionally prepared at a time of our choosing. The room was fully modernized and spacious as was the bath. Warm towels and dressing robes were supplied. We will definitely recommend the Dulaig to anyone visiting the Cairngorm region of Scotland.
Carol and Gordon are generous and very caring hosts, who gave us nothing but perfect advice for walks and dining and travel plans. Loved our stay.

My husband and I were lucky enough to spend our wedding anniversary at The Dulaig and couldn’t have wished for a more special experience in every way.
Whatever I write about this wonderful place, with equally wonderful hosts, will do neither justice.
Gordon and Carol are exceptional, delightful people. Amazingly generous hosts, who are clearly passionate about ensuring their guests have a happy and memorable stay, with attention to detail unsurpassed. It was so uplifting to receive such a genuine warm welcome on arrival, with tea and freshly made scones, to our departure, waved off from the front of the house - all just so special and unique.
The house and grounds are absolutely immaculate. The garden is lovely with summer house for guests to use, interesting and abundant wildlife, along with a variety of special breed hens providing delicious eggs. Everything is stylish and of great quality; the Arts and Crafts furniture and décor throughout so attractive and perfect for the beautiful house.
We had the Taylor room which was very peaceful and comfortable, with superb bed, quality, attractive bed linen, Hungarian goose down duvet and pillows, black out blinds, a silent fridge housing fresh milk, still and sparkling water, a tea tray with extensive range of tea, coffee, chocolate, plus a little tin labelled ‘a sweet treat’ with delicious, individually wrapped and obviously handmade, biscuits in the shape of a bird. We also had another treat - a daily delivery by the cake fairy on our return from exploring the local area. Because of Gordon and Carol’s guidance we were able to make good use of our time to find interesting places.
Our bathroom which overlooked the garden was a joy to use. Beautifully tiled and well equipped, with huge free standing roll top bath. There were lots of fluffy white towels, luxury toiletries, robes, slippers and even the choice of scented or unscented soap.
It is difficult to know where to begin to describe the fabulous, unbeatable breakfasts, with a ‘special’ added daily, to an already interesting and varied menu. Each morning was a voyage of discovery with cooked and fresh fruit, cereals and yogurt – all produced at The Dulaig. We appreciated everything, with the flavour and presentation of the Cornish Egg dish, hot smoked salmon with scrambled egg, cinnamon toasts, different types of delicious homemade bread and preserves, still in our minds.
For many years we operated a 5* Gold Bed and Breakfast with an award of the Best in Scotland and when travelling choose a B & B rather than hotel, so our expectations can be somewhat high. I can honestly say we have found an absolute gem and that there is nothing we consider could be changed or added, to improve this unique experience. Gordon and Carol well and truly deserve all the accolades attributed to them.

Room Tip: Whilst we had the Taylor room the other rooms looked equally as good and overlooked the garden too.

We just returned from two glorious weeks in Scotland. Of all the "grand" hotels we stayed at, the Dulaig was our favorite. The warmth and hospitality of Carol and Gordon set the stage for their exquisite attention to detail, and generous offerings. This was the smallest room of any we stayed at, but it had wonderful appointments and a superb pastoral view.
We awoke to the sunlight breaking on a wee glen, followed by a glorious double rainbow which we captured perfectly. They prepared a delicious breakfast spread and followed it with very tasty and creative hot entrees. Sherry in the rooms, a visit by the "cake fairy" in the afternoon, and a generous complimentary scotch selection were greatly appreciated after a long active day. Believe it or not, the Dulaig had the finest showers of our trip.
Walking in their beautiful garden with wildlife abundant or on the mystical road leading to the Dulaig reminds one of a quieter more peaceful time. This was truly a highlight.
Be forewarned, there are only three guest rooms, and they already have many repeat customers. So plan ahead to savor this little slice of heaven.
