“Perfect Couples Getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

I chose the Dunallan Guest House as a surprise Valentines Getaway present to my girlfriend this year based on other reviews and had such a great time. Staying in Granton offered us a central location to explore the Highland Whiskey trail and the outdoor activities of the Craggan activity center (not advised to do on the same day :) The proprietor of the Guest house, Jayne spared no effort in making us feel at home during our stay and gave excellent advice on nearby activities and restaurants. From the luxurious loft bathroom to the magnificent full Scottish breakfast the Dunallan Guest House afforded us a great weekend and I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in Granton.

Room Tip: The loft room or honeymoon suite with a separate bath & shower is really luxurious and well wort...

Great accommodation, wonderful reception, lovely hostess and really felt like a home from home. Couldn't fault it. An evening meal at the Craig Inn across the road is a must.

If you're over 6'1" tall though I wouldn't stay in the loft rooms......

We chose this B&B on the strength of previous reviews and were not disappointed. It was just perfect - we were shown to a lovely bedroom and a superbly fitted bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower. Must mention the underfloor heating in the bathroom which was just a bonus as it turned out to be an extremely cold and frosty night.

Breakfast was excellent with a varied range of cereals and fresh fruit. From a varied menu to chose from - our cooked breakfast was made to order; ample servings of freshly made toast with homemade jam and superb marmalade - not forgetting the excellent coffee! Our host Jayne was very attentive and made us feel very welcome.

Overall, It was certainly excellent value - we would definitely return and would highly recommend the Dunallan.

Staying at the Dunallen, you feel like you're staying in someone's home. We stayed here as a group of motorcyclists on a short tour of the highlands and the landlady was delightful, helpful and although there was a bit of a mix-up with our room (a double instead of a twin), she dealt with it efficiently and swiftly giving us a double each for the same price. The cooked breakfast was made to order rather than 'kept warm' and was very good quality. The rooms were very homely, clean and well decorated with compact but perfectly adequate en-suite facilities and very good power-showers. The house itself is a magnificent example of the town houses of the region, large rooms, high ceilings, quality furniture and ornate frontage. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and thoroughly enjoyed the light-hearted atmosphere and banter during our breakfast get-together with the others in our group.

What a lovely place Jayne has created for her guests. We booked in with two friends for one night on our return journey from a trip to Orkney, and we wished we had been able to extend our stay. We will certainly return to Dunallan, hopefully to do the Speyside Way. Our rooms were ,very tastefully decorated and spacious, and the beds very comfortable. We had a lovely chat with Jayne over a malt or two, relaxing on her huge sofas. Excellent variety of options for breakfast catering for every dietary requirement. I echo the comments of other 5 star reviews for Dunallan. Many places aspire to provide the service and atmosphere which Jayne does so well - few achieve it.

Room Tip: Craigie's pub is just across the road from Dunallan and serves excellent local ales and fine whi...

My husband and I were given a very warm welcome at Dunallan despite arriving very late in the evening. The atmosphere of this family-run B&B is homely and unpretentious and we spent two very comfortable nights in the honeymoon suite which was tastefully decorated, well-appointed and spotlessly clean. We were offered a choice of breakfast times and the breakfast itself was delicious with plenty of fresh, locally-produced ingredients.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite is well-appointed and offers plenty of privacy and quiet.

My husband and I walked the Speyside way and the welcome we received from Jayne's daughter as well as Jayne and their beloved family cat was unmatched. We enjoyed Jayne's exceptional attention to detail in her furnishings as well as her care and feeding of us! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer...but the trail beckoned. Until next time!
