My husband stayed earlier this month as he was in Grantown on Spey for the "four day open golf tournament". On arrival he unpacked his case and put his kindle (worth £220) on the ledge beneath window. It mysteriously went missing from his room. My husband phoned Garden Park twice to find out if it had turned up & I phoned, only to be told that himself (Mr Woods), his wife, the cleaner and the gent that moved into room when my husband left had been the only four people in the room. He then asked me if I was accusing him of stealing it and if we were not please to contact the police. My husband was a former Captain of Grantown on Spey Golf Club & a born and bred local Balmenach man and is well known in the town.

First I have to say the owners of Garden Park are charming and the Breakfast is good. From there it all goes downhill :( It's a beautiful house but needs de-cluttering.
The whole house (at least the parts we saw) are VERY cluttered. I think the owners have allowed their own eclectic taste to spill over into the guest areas, just a bit too much!
They are wondering why guests don't use the guest lounge? You can barely move in there for Teddy Bears and collections of goodness knows what. And it was so cold.
I know it was supposed to be Summer, but the evenings did turn extremely cold. There was a heater in the bedroom but it didn't really warm up in there until bedtime! Several times we mentioned we were cold. to no avail.
As for the bedroom, it was awful. Very cramped with the tiniest 'shower room' I ever saw. NO chance of putting on makeup because it was sooooo dark! The lighting is appalling, also there was no light over the shower so when the curtain (thick and dark) was pulled it was like the Black Hole of Calcutta. All the towels were all colours and most seemed worn and old as was the bedding. The top sheet even had holes in it!
On the hospitality tray, the biscuits were in an old tin, LOOSE! Couldn't help wondering who else had been in the tin. YUK. Not exactly hygienic. Would we return? NEVER!

This was our very best experience with a B & B when travelling through Scotland. The greeting we received from Angela made us feel very welcome and she was so helpful when giving us advice about the town and the sights to see in the limited time we had available. The other thing we appreciated was the "tour" of the residence and the explanation of facilities and services; this was not always so well done with other properties in which we stayed. Angela went out of her way to accommodate our needs; nothing was too much trouble. The room (complete with four-poster bed) was very comfortable and the ensuite was huge (and included a lovely bath). Breakfast was delicious with a full range of choices: full Scottish, cereals, fruit, toast etc. Our only regret was that we were only staying for one night!

Over the last few months I've had the need to stay in the are for numerous short visits on business.

Having stayed at one or two other places in the town, I eventually found the Garden Park gust House (having spotted it & its lovely picturesque gardenn during one evening strill). I called and booked a room for my very next visit and have been going back ever since.

A lovely, immaculate home, together with very friendly and accomodating owners, you won't be dissappointed. So, book with confidence and enjoy your visit to this lovely town and fabulous little gem of a guest house.

We chose a GH rather than an hotel, based on prior experience in Scotland. So, we arrived up many steps to be greeted by a dog! Things went from bad to worse - small grubby double room, dusty bath, latent smell of dog! Cups etc in the bedroom just felt unclean. Cold. Towels very tired. Lounge full of huge teddy bears and uncomfortable. Residents' fridge which was smelly. Breakfast was adequate but below expectation. In my view, dogs have no place in GH or cooking areas for paying public. And at £72/night = about twice its worth. If there is to be a next time, we would do one of the two main hotels; or stay in another town.

Room Tip: Try a different GH/hotel.

We are always disappionted to receive unhappy reviews from our guests as we try our very best to look after everybodys needs. However we wish that these guests would have given us the opportunity to put things right at the time of stay. We had no idea of their grievences. We believe the 2 recent poor reviews were guests travelling together. They had special requirements which we tried to look after. We feel these compalints were not representative of our usual standard and most of guest agree we do offer value for money with much repeat business after 11 years at Garden Park. We would encourage people to do their research and visit our website to find we do have dogs and like teddy bears!!

On a recent Rabbies tour we stayed at this B&B and were very disappointed. as it did not meet with our expectations. We have had excellent previous experience of similar hostelries in Scotland. Sadly this fell far short. Bedrooms could do with redecoration as there were holes in the wall left by screws. Towel rail fell off in the bathroom and the toilet seat had been repaired with a different coloured fitting. towels were very tired.
The sitting room was overcrowded with huge teddy bears leaving little seating for residents. Public rooms were extremely cold, my friend had to wear her outdoor coat to breakfast as the room was freezing.

We are always disappointed to receive unhappy reviews from our guests. However we would encourage guests to raise any complaints at the time of their stay to give us a chance to put things right. Although we understand the 2 poor reviews recently were travelling together we are sorry for any discomfort they experienced. We tried to help with their special requirements including providing ground floor rooms and extra heating for the rooms. We do feel we have a high level of satisfaction for most of our guests who consider us value for money but take on board any criticism brought to our attention.
