“One Not to be Missed”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

After a long day arrived here to a very warm and friendly welcome from Jane and Garry. I was with three friends from New York who thought the house was superb. Rooms cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Went to eat at the Craig Bar which was close by. An experience to be savoured. You have to meet Robbie and you still won't believe he is real. If you like pies, whisky and fun, then this is the place to dine. Breakfast in the morning at Kinross House was superb. We were spoiled for choice. Given half a chance I will be back as soon as possible.

I'd just walked 17 miles from Aviemore, what better than to be welcomed and told there was plenty of hot water for a bath! Lovely room, in a great location - quiet, but only a few minutes walk from the town centre. As for the breakfast... wow. A vast array of fruits, delicious home-made muesli, and a big cooked breakfast. Other B&Bs in the area are more expensive, but I just don't how they could be any better - this really is one of the best value B&Bs I've stayed in.

We had a wonderful experience at Kinross House. They made sure our room was set up correctly. They were super friendly and helpful. The house is absolutely lovely. The rooms are very nice, with all the amenities (better than many hotel rooms). Breakfast was amazing and I would definitely recommend this B&B.

I can't say enough about the warm welcome, helpfulness, and amazing breakfast that I experienced at Kinross House. The hosts are lovely and very helpful, without being overbearing, not to mention being terrific cooks. I am definitly a 'breakfast guy' and they cook a mean breakfast. (Which was necessary before a long day of whisky tasting.)

Without a doubt, this is a great place to stay when up in this area.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night during a flying visit to the Highlands last week. Jane and Gary gave us a very warm welcome and made a great recommendation for pie and chips at the local pub. The room was clean and nicely decorated with a nice shower which was easy to use (I have had some recent bad experiences with this elsewhere). The breakfast was seriously good and I'm quite fussy as my husband makes killer poached eggs! Grantown is lovely with a few nice coffee shops etc. but the main attraction is the beautiful scenery. We loved the walks in the woodland just down the road. Would highly recommend (and plan to go back)!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 5. Lovely bed with a beautiful carved wooden headboard and 2 windows so lots of li...

...if Kinross House is only rated 5 out of 20. It is difficult to conceive of anything that could be improved much in this place. It is within easy walking distance of the town centre - which has several places to eat- whilst being in a very quiet street and it has a superb range of breakfast specials, whilst the standard "full scottish" is also pretty good too. The lounge is comfortable and the hosts are thoroughly considerate and thoughtful. It seems a pity to miss out on the top 4 rated B&Bs in Grantown, but when I next go back in that area I shall certainly try to stay here. I only know what room 4 was like and it was great with a magnificent king-sized bed and a controllable shower that consistently obeyed my instructions rather than interacting with the rest of the plumbing. Oh, did I mention that we were offered lifts to wherever we wanted to walk to or from? You don't get that sort of treatment everywhere.

Stayed here recently for 5 nights and didn't want to leave! Grantown is an excellent base for exploring Speyside and the Cairngorms and has enough places to eat out in the evenings not to have to repeat. However we did eat at the pie and chip pub twice because it was good value and lots of fun. Kinross House is first class because of its friendly and welcoming hosts, Jane and Gary, who made us feel very at home and provided delicious breakfasts, including a huge choice of fresh fruit and very tasty porridge and muesli. Our ground floor room was not en suite but the private bathroom that went with it was brand new, very well appointed and luxurious and just a step away. There is also a very comfortable lounge for guests full of books, information, games etc. The small Grantown museum is well worth a visit if you can tear yourself away from the scenery. We loved staying at Kinross House and wouldn't hesitate to do so again. Thank you Jane and Gary.
