“Bedrock B&B, Cromdale”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2013

Just returned from walking part of the Speyside Way as a party of 5 ladies of 'a certain age'. Jenny and John put us all up in their lovely home and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms were spotless, food was excellent and very good value, and the location is stunning. Our hosts really 'went the extra mile', helping us 'oldies' with lifts when we arrived cold and wet in nearby Cromdale. I can heartily recommend the accommodation 'Bedrock' has to offer.

We booked here again after having such a wonderful stay last time. It did not disappoint.

The location is perfect for skiing as it is central to all the ski resorts in Scotland. John has lots of knowledge of the area and made some great recommendations where to hire snowboarding and ski equipment as well as the best places to go for our ability.

The rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean. The decor is very tasteful. I particularly enjoyed the selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cup a soup and flavoured water in the room. The endless jar of local shortcake biscuits was a very nice touch.

The breakfast was also very nice, generous portions and lovely eggs from the chickens in the garden.

Thank you Jenny and John for a wonderful stay, and making us feel welcome and at home. Nothing was too much trouble for you. We will definitely book again for the next ski season.

My partner and I travelled the Scottish highlands from Canada and stayed at John and Jenny's B&B in the Cairngorm's national park. The accomodation was the best of all the places we stayed in Scotland. I had the best sleep of my whole trip!!!! The room was beautifully decorated, the surroundings were peaceful and the scenery gorgeous. They welcomed us with so much kindness and attentiveness. We were even greeted with cupcakes on our arrival. We had a delicious breakfast both days and even got a complimentary drive to the foot of the mountains for a hike. They also had many great recommendations for exploring the area. We purchased "refreshments" for our two nights and John and Jenny were so kind to put it in their own refridgerator so that it stayed cold. We were blown away by their incredible hospitality and would gladly return there in a heartbeat!!!! Cheryl & Adam, Grimsby Ontario

My daughter and I stayed with John and Jenny during our roadtrip through Scotland. After a disasterous first night in Grantown-on-Spey, we were lucky enough to find the Bedrock through Trip Advisor.
Lovely room and lovely people. The views were spectacular. Very affordable, gorgeous breakfast, and could not have felt more welcome.
Could not recommend it more.

We stayed in April for 3 nights. Jenny and John were really accomodating and made us feel very welcome. The food was fantastic and I am a vegetarian which was no problem, I got a full vegetarian breakfast instead :-) (I hate it when the only other things people offer is egg on toast).
The double room was really clean and very nicely furnished. Plenty of room to store all our clothes etc. The shower was powerful & nice and hot and the en-suite was a good size.
The location was lovely, we did a few nice walks along the river spey and from Grantown on Spey. We are hoping to return in November and we can do some more walking and biking knowing we have a warm cosy B&B to return to.

The "Bedrock" is truly a gem among the B&Bs. We arrived in Cromdale after a trying day of hiking and found a very warm welcome from John and Jenny who were not only friendly as it is expected by people who run a B&B, but also very obliging.
The room in which we were accomodated was what one would expect from a hotel room. Even the welcome-tray (which is refilled every day) was much more well-supplied as usual.
Our room looked as if it had been renovated recently and was very clean and comfortable with plenty of room to store our rucksacks and garments. The same can be said about our en-suite bathroom. John and Jenny tried to fulfill our every wish and even let us borrow their private DVDs to watch on the TV (DVD-player included) in our room.
Concludingly this was an absolutely unforgettable stay and we highly recommend the "Bedrock" to everybody who is travelling in this part of Scotland.

The first thing that hits you is the beautiful scenery that this B&B sits in. We picked the B&B due to its idyllic location set in vast mountainous countryside with plenty of places to go biking (mountain bike hire in the nearby town). After a hard day biking it was lovely to go back to the B&B which was warm, cosy and the hosts were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The double room we stayed in was very clean and modern, with nice touches like tea and coffee in the room with a lovely selection of biscuits. The ensuite was nice with fluffy towels and a hot powerful large shower perfect after a day out and about. After a long day it was bliss to fall into a really comfy bed, in a warm room, and fall asleep in the silence of the countryside. To top off our stay the breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

We are planning to return in the winter and take advantage of the skiing season in nearby Aviemore.
