I can recommend the big breakfast and from the selection of main meals advertised on the blackboard I will be quite tempted to go back and try one of them.

Friendly staff, good food and very reasonably priced, gets my recommendation any day.

The only reasons it doesn't get five stars are;

Tables a little too close together, but it's not a big place so I can understand that; and

The table we were sat at had been varnished with the wrong type of varnish so felt slightly sticky almost as though it hadn't been cleaned properly, it had but just didn't feel like it.

If you like good reasonably priced food though it's worth a visit.

Lovely little place we found on way back from Peak District. Sunday roasts were excellent & great puds. Service was very efficient also. It made a very welcome break from the long journey and we will certainly remember Barkers when next in that part of the world.

called in at 3:55 (even though they close at 4pm), ordered the today special which was lasagne. despite late time of arrival, staff exceptionally helpful and food very good. then as typical late customers we ordered a desert. again this was no problem to the staff. highly recommend, food and service first class.

Great spot for quality food at a very good price , most home made and proper chips too . Service is good too. The place is a little dated and could do with modernising but for fresh food its great.

That's clearly the instruction here. Our sprouts were a soggy, khaki-coloured mess, the carrots were too soft even to be pierced on a fork and the green beans had been boiled out of existence. Very bland and quite unpleasant.

The range may be wide, the service reasonable and the atmosphere ok, but if half your meal is inedible that's just not on.

Maybe its just me, but having a huge floor tile glued to the table top is just bizarre, and very inconvenient too!
