Had an hour to spare in Grantham before catching a train, we saw the spire over the rooftops and followed it to find out what it was. I had no idea of the history of the place beforehand, but it was obvious how old (and how beautiful) the building was when we got up close. There are lovely scary gargoyles all round the outside of the roof, and many carved little faces in the stone. The windows are beautiful, with intricate and artistically balanced stone tracery between the panes of glass. (We didn't get to go inside sadly as it was closed.)
