Staff were extreamly friendly and welcoming. Relaxed environment. Daughter really enjoyed it and took in the information. Coffee corner was lovely with books available for children to read. Worth going in. Id go again definately. Thankyou.

“Small Museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

The Museum is very small and when I visited it only had three displays, the Dambusters anniversay exhibition, Margaret Thatcher and Isaac Newton. All three displays were interesting but could have done with having more items to read and look at. There is a small cafe providing drinks/snacks.

“Excellent Displays and Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

I visited the Museum on a rainy day. I must say how impressed I was with the new informative DDay Exhibition as well as the Fantastic Margaret Thatcher. The staff are very helpful and polite nothing was too much trouble for them especially how you are welcomed into the Museum. It is definitely worth a visit to the Museum as there is a fantastic lovely coffee shop and it is now run by volunteers.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

This museum which used to be run by the local authority is now managed and run by a very dedicated group of volunteers.
There is a permanent exhibition related to the history of Grantham, Margaret Thatcher, and the Dambusters raid, co-ordinated from St Vincents in Grantham. This includes part of one of the famous ' bouncing bombs' - huge, never realised they were so big.
The Margaret Thatcher exhibit includes the chance to listen to contemporary election broadcasts and cast your vote.
Forthcoming exhibitions include the 70th anniversary of D Day (The area was home to a number of US airborne units), and the 100th anniversary of WW1.
This is very much a local museum, not glitzy, but dedicated to telling local people and visitors things about Grantham they might not have known.
If you visit quickly there is just catch to see the travelling Embroiderers Guild exhibition and contribute to the longest embroidery in the world
A new cafe is just about to open, and the Museum also has a large upstairs space available for workshops and events, currently filled with hundreds of tiny postcard sized embroideries made for the athletes village of the Olympics
It's open Wednesday to Saturday, and it's free!

“Visiting the Museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 February 2014

Grantham museum was taken over by volunteers when the local authority decided to close it.The volunteers work hard to put displays on and the results are excellent considering the situation. It is however quite small for obvious reasons. They provide coffee and snacks also and there are often activities for children. I am not sure on the bathroom facilities never having had the need to visit them as I am a local person and just drop in from time to time.
