My husband and I stayed with our threee young children (age 6 and under) for a 3 night midweek stay. We had a great time, the staff couldn't do enough for us. We stayed in a family room which was comfortable, a little small but we spent very little time in there so this wasn't an issue for us. The hotel has various rooms in which to relax as well as an indoor pool, steam room and jacuzzi to keep the children amused. The hotel is ideally situated for the lakes but away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas. We took our bikes and found plenty of places to have ride round safely.

The food was excellent, cooked fresh every day and they made tea for the children early in order that we could have dinner later on in peace! The rooms have baby listening which was great.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough its a gem.

My wife and daughter treated me to a surprise birthday trip to the Netherwood. We got a great deal and found nothing whatsoever to complain about. The room was huge and had wonderful views over the Kent Estuary. It was also very clean.

The food was perfect for us - dinner was beautifully cooked and presented, but also unpretentious, and we could have picked almost every dish on the menu. Breakfast was truly outstanding, probably the best we have ever had in a hotel. The staff and restaurant manager were charming and friendly, especially with our young daughter.

We would go again tomorrow if we could.

This week we held a lunch here for a group of 62 volunteers from a children's charity organisation. Everyone I have spoken to is full of praise. The welcome, the friendly and helpful staff, the food, the comfort, the decor - not to mention the views over Morecambe Bay - everything was just right. This is a very well run establishment which catered very successfully for our large group - the beef was cooked to perfection and all the food was nice and hot, and well presented. We also thought it was jolly good value for money. We will most certainly be booking again for next year.

We booked in for a nights stay while attending a wedding. It had been snowing recently and on arrival we were pointed in the direction of our room, which was called Rock View a Bungalow in the grounds. We had to walk on a path that hadn't been cleared of ice and snow and was dangerous. The room was nice, well it should be for £140 but, there was no extraction in the bathroom, the bottom of the door jamb was rotten and one of the flush lights was hanging out, I ordered a paper that didn't arrive at the appointed 8am. The breakfast was adequate but we had to wait. In the end I had to ask for my order to be taken.
In the main bedroom the economy 7 heater kept dronning and in the end we had to switch it off .To be fair the bed was comfy and the view, when the mist had cleared, was good, well i'm local it's Morecambe Bay!! As a local person being asked by a tourist to recommend a hotel, I'm sorry it would'nt be this one.

We booked this hotel for a funeral reception. We dealt directly with the hotel owner who appeared at first to be as helpful as he could offering us "whatever we wanted" in the way of food and refreshments.
He then pressurised us into having what HE wanted us to have and denigrated our own choice of foods saying that if we chose what he suggested he could cater for an approximate number and then add food as needed.
Despite this, he pestered us to provide him with a definite number of guests which is difficult for a funeral. We agreed, eventually, on approximately 40 even though we'd originally estimated 50. The night before, and following the candle-lit vigil, he phoned us again and pressed for a definite number pushing my husband to agree to 60. On the day, 40 attended but we were charged for 60.
The Undertakers intervened on our behalf but the hotel owner refused to negotiate even half way despite taking a substantial amount on wines (we counted 10 empty bottles but they charged for more). His attitude throughout was immovable and he applied aggressive pressure to make us agree to what he wanted to sell us, all at a very difficult time.
It is a beautiful hotel and the food was delicious but they are clearly out to squeeze every penny then can from you by fair means or foul!

We got married at the Netherwood last September and have just returned to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.

As others have already said, this is a great place to have a wedding, and our day was so well handled from start to finish. The location is just beautiful and provided a perfect setting for our day and the food was amazing. Definitely the best wedding food I have ever had (and lots of our guests said the same!). The staff were excellent throughout the day, but special mention must be made of Gary who guided everyone through the day seamlessly, without anyone even noticing he was there!

When we decided to go back for our anniversary I was initially unsure how I would feel going back to the venue as an “ordinary guest” rather than the bride, but I had a lovely weekend, and the staff at the hotel really made sure we received a warm welcome. Mike, the owner, made sure to come over and congratulate us and buy us a drink, and we thought the personalised menu they had made for us was a lovely touch.

I absolutely love this place, and think that the hotel is full of charm and character. However, I would probably agree that the bedrooms in the main house would benefit from a bit of modernisation and upgrading, as they don’t seem to be finished to the same standard as the communal areas. We stayed in the Turrets for our anniversary break and the standard of these rooms is much higher and represents excellent value for money. This is a self catering cottage so as well as our room and en suite bathroom we had use of a huge kitchen, lovely lounge and enormous dining room/living area with amazing views. I would definitely request this option if we stay there again – lovely views over the bay, more peaceful than the main hotel and plenty of space to chill out and enjoy the scenery.

I’m sure we’ll be back…
