This large hotel has an atmosphere about it, from a bygone age with large communal rooms and corridors. It is elegant but not luxurious as such. It overlooks Morcambe Bay in the distance. The hotel is, of course, ideally placed for touring the Lakes

The lounge and bar area are spacious, the drinks reasonable and the atmosphere relaxing. In the dining room we ate from the carvery where the food quality and servings were generally good. All the staff were friendly.

For the price this hotel is well worth staying at.

we recently stayed at the cumbria grand hotel.from checking in to checking out the service was first class all the staff were polite friendly and helpful.our room was clean spacious and overlooked the golf course and bay.the evening carvery meal had plenty of choice with a vegetarian option. the breakfast you help yourself to everything from cereal, fruit juice to all items on a full english breakfast coffee or tea and toast is served by a waiter at your table.the train station is a 10 minute walk away with the village a little further on there is plenty of free parking.if you are visiting the lake district try this hotel.

Room Tip: ask to overlook the golf course and bay

I organised a weekend break for 51 ladies to the Lake District. We stayed at the Cumbria Grand Hotel, Grange over Sands and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were really kind and helpful, rooms were lovely and were very clean and the food was fantastic! Delicious breakfast and the carvery for dinner at night was outstanding. The hotel is being renovated at the moment but this certainly did not reflect in the attention we received. There was not one complaint from 51 ladies so you know it is well worth recommending! this is a lovely hotel but is in the middle of renovation but did not disturb us as guests. The staff are friendly and can not do enough to help you. The meals are excellent, the dinig room is very well set out with cereals etc, buffet breakfast and lots of toast and jams etc. the rooms were large enough to be able to walk round and a large bathroom with shower over bath. i really enjoyed my stay here

Stayed here on the way back from the Cairn at Harrogate so was not disappointed. The hotel is set well back off the road so you get peace and quiet had great views of the sea and a balcony. Breakfast in the spacious restaurant was all you need from bacon to croissants.

Room Tip: room with a sea view

Wonderful location (although you take your life in your hands when turning right out of the hotel drive). Fantastic views over Morcambe Bay - from dining room if not from your hotel room.
Room very good, staff really helpful - couldn't have been more so.
Only very slight downside was the cleanliness of the room, but it was OK.
Wonderful air of faded Victorian grandeur - even the radiators have elaborate decorations - great character, excellent location.
Vege choices for evening meal were limited, but there are so many places in the town that's not a problem.

Room Tip: Of course a sea view would be better
