We were on holiday in the area and were out and about looking for somewhere to eat. Seen the Royal Oak and decided to give it a try. We had not booked but we were given a table for a group of 5 no problem. A really warm welcome from all members of staff, barman advised us on what sort of beer to try and the waitress was really good at advising us from the menu. Food was lovely, well presented and tasty. Seemed popular with the locals which is always a good sign in my eyes One minor hiccup with the bill but this was dealt with efficiently and with no issues. Really good choice to drop in to the Royal Oak and would certainly go back if ever in the area again.

My wife and I had dinner here on 18th April. A busy local pub with a menu containing some unusual items. Unfortunately they had sold out of one of the specials, rabbit casserole which I would like to have tried. We shared a Cumbrian antipasti platter for starters, with local air dried ham, venison chorizo etc. which was delicious, followed by lamb chops marinated in cinnamon and maple syrup. Again, unusual but delicious, served with olive mash and a good selection of well cooked vegetables. No room for dessert! Good value for money and welcoming , friendly service.

We visited this place on the way back to our holiday park for a lunch time meal. Very pleased with this place - very tasteful decor, good service, great ambience and above all tasty. Immaculately clean, including very clean and nicely presented toilets. If we are ever in the area we will definitely visit again so would recommend this place to all. Visit this lovely pub/restaurant - you will not be disappointed!

My friend and I were staying in the Lakes over Easter and called in without a reservation to the Royal Oak. We were given the only table which wasn't reserved (always a good sign when the tables are all reserved!) and were in luck. The service was good and the staff very attentive, the Thai curry was excellent. It's a lovely atmosphere with a few locals drinking at the bar, families and couples in the restaurant, nicely decorated and easy to find. I would definitely recommend this eatery.

Went to the Royal Oak with the family whilst on holiday this year and would definitely go back. The menu was extremely varied and every dish we had was well prepared. Although it wasn't busy, there was a good athmosphere and the staff were extremely attentive and great with the kids.
