We only stayed here for one night but thought it a great B and B, newly refurbished with contemporary but neutral linen and decor and up to date en suite. Breakfast was really good fresh products so would strongly recommend to all.

Birchleigh Guest House is modern, clean and very welcoming. The breakfast was superb, with many of the ingredients being sourced locally. The owners were also very helpful and lovely, picking me up from the station and dropping me at a destination I was required to be at close to the guest house. Overall I highly recommend Birchleigh guest house!

Can't often be bothered to write reviews for most of the run of the mill budget places that we have stayed in. However for a little bit more Linda and Pete provide excellence and if anybody can fault it they must have issues. Lovely place run by a friendly hardworking couple who have created a tasteful little haven. Rooms are newly and tastefully decorated to a high standard. Ok they are not huge rooms but together with the power shower, fluffy white towels and crisp white bed linen and everything you need for a good nights sleep plus an above average breakfast we highly recommend the Birchleigh.

I think the title says it all. Hosts Linda and Pete were very welcoming, as new owners they have worked incredibly hard to get their business up and running, and I wish them all the best. Nothing is too much trouble, food great, excellent hospitality and not overly priced. I will definately be going back hopefully in 2011.

Where do I start ? Arriving on the street the guest house is situated, you cannot stop gazing in awe at the beautiful old buildings all along it. On arrival you are greeted by an immaculate vestibule which leads into the reception. The decor is light and airy , with ample comfy seating. The owners Peter and Linda are two of the nicest people you will ever have the pleasure to meet.
On being taken to our room,we were delighted on what awaited us. A large room , superbly decorated, with a lovley brand new shower room. A well stocked hospitality tray , with top brand Tea and Coffee, and amazingly FRESH milk !!
After unpacking, we set out to discover our surroundings, which consist of more churches i have ever seen in any one place, a co op, off licence , various hot food takeaways to pander to anybodys taste, and various other speciality shops.
After talking to Peter , he recommended the very nearby Windermere, and Cartmel.
We checked both these out, with a trip out on one of the many ferrys on the lake, and then had dinner in the Royal Oak in Cartmel , which has stood since 1749 !
We also had a walk along the promenade in Grange, which on a less wintry day would be stunning. I was very suprised initially at how busy the place was, which is testament to how special it is, yet everybody goes out of there way to make you feel like a local.
I think you might have gathered, we absolutley love this place !

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Birchleigh guest house in Grange over sands which has just been taken over by new management.
The guest house was immaculately clean, and was decorated and furnished to a very high standard, the beds had crisp white linen on and fresh white towels in the bathrooms.
It is an ECO friendly guest house, (you can see the solar panels on the roof from the carpark) and the manager took the time to explain how the heating and the air purifying system works.
The room was very spacious, we had the family room, which had a full sized double and single bed, we were overlooking the main road at the front, but did not hear any noise at all. The room had a flat screened TV along with all the normal things you expect, tea coffee hot chocolate and the milk was supplied in a little flask so plenty to make a drink rather than using those little containers.
Breakfast was great, I'd definitely recommend the scrabbled eggs! Plenty of toast and as much tea as we could drink.
Plenty to do in Grange, the promenade is a couple of minutes walk from Birchleigh and there is a great park area for the kids which has crazy golf and a skate park for the older kids.
The management seemed really nice genuine people and you can tell they are enjoying what they do rather than just running it as a business. We will definitely be going back!
