“Oasis in Gateshead ? - oakee doakee....”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Stayed here this week whilst in Gateshead on business. Approaching via "the angel" (well worth a look), Low Fell seemed a bit lacklustre. Having arrived, it appears someone transported Eslington Villa there via a time space interface.
This place is awesome !. Only 18 rooms, and if you are in the roof space it's a good climb !. Excellently presented and clean, the rooms was a joy in every way except for the window which had a white blind and no curtains....next morning, 5am sunrise, bright light, bleary eyes, not good !.
Ate in the restaurant which was excellent. I am no real fan of nouvelle minimalist meals served on big plates, but having said that the courses were beautifully prepared and presented and did taste as good as they looked. I really coUld have eaten more - luckily the left over French bread starter mopped up the amazing beef cheek sauce....sorry, but it WAS that good !. By contrast, the full English next morning was a good sized portion and again, wonderfully presented. One criticism ? - no decent proper ale; just two fizzy lagers or John Smiths.....no thanks !.

Thanks for posting a review and you're kind comments regarding the food and service and pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We do keep some local real ales but only in bottles , hopefully if demand increases we will be able to stock barrels. We look forward to seeing you again.

We have just celebrated our daughter's wedding at this lovely venue. Since then we have been flooded with compliments from our guests. We were lucky enough to have a gloriously sunny day which showed off the hotel at its best. The guests were able to relax in the beautiful gardens on arrival and we were even able to have speeches on the lawn. The meal was first class and the dining room looked beautiful, a credit to Melanie who has a wonderful eye for detail and exquisite taste. The staff attended to our guests in a thoroughly professional and friendly way and nothing was too much trouble. From our very first visit to the hotel we knew it was the perfect venue as there are plenty of options for guests. Discos are not for everyone so those who wanted peace and quiet to chat over a drink had the option of retiring to the comfy lounge, conservatory or the gardens. The cosy smoking shelter is a delight. The smokers couldn't get in as it was so popular with the non smokers with its comfy seating and twinkly lights!! We booked the 18 bedrooms for our guests which gave us exclusive use of the entire place. Another big plus and all the guests commented on how lovely the rooms are, beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. All that aside, the thing that we valued most was the personal touch. From the outset, Melanie was always available either face to face or by email and by the time the wedding day came round we knew many of the staff by name and were 100% confident that we were in good hands. I can't recommend Eslington Villa highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful day.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely.

We stayed at Eslington Villa for a few nights in July 2014. This is a lovely property with attention to good service. The landlady is very friendly and oversees a large former manor house, which is well kept including the large garden looking down towards Team Valley.
I had to work from my room for a day and the free WiFi worked very well.
Very reasonably priced bar menu, and it was great to sit on the patio enjoying a light meal in the sunshine in the afternoons.
You will notice the trainline running close to the end of the property grounds, but we slept with an open window every night and didn't find the occasional train too disturbing.
All in all a very good choice if you want a little more piece and quiet than what you get in the quayside or downtown Newcastle hotels.
Likely we will call again.

Where to begin? As a party of 5 we stayed for 2 nights for Julia & David's wedding on 28th June .The staff were very welcoming, friendly, efficient - special mention to Melanie who worked tirelessly to make the couple's day so perfect - and to our waitress Esther, what a gem - nothing was too much bother! The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the food superb. All in all, we had a perfect weekend and are already recommending Eslington Villa to our friends. We'll be back!

Room Tip: A room overlooking the gardens is very relaxing Our room overlooked the large gardens and the v...

My son and his fiance were married on Saturday 28 June at Eslington Villa. Everything was perfect. The hotel staff were very professional, friendly and so helpful. The hotel was spotlessly clean, comfortable and welcoming. Outside there is a large spacious mature garden and lawn where the couple were married under an ornate arch. Melanie, the wedding co-ordinator, was amazing. Compliments to the hotel chef who produced mouthwatering meals all weekend, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Wonderful venue. Will be returning soon.

My husband and I had our humanist wedding ceremony in the beautiful grounds of Eslington Villa in late June 2014. With 60 day time guests and over 130 evening guests, the staff preformed amazingly. Everything went so smoothly. Melanie the owner and wedding co ordinator made sure everything was effortless for me through out the whole planning process and on the day. She is truly an amazing person and a fantastic host at Eslington Villa. She has an eye for detail and is so generous with her time and enthusiasim for her customers and guests. Julie, the manager on my wedding day is so efficient and well organised, making sure everything went like clock work. The chefs are hidden gems! Never once meeting them but there planning, prep And execution was meticulous! Many guests saying it is the best food they have ever had at a wedding (including their own) Delicious! Not to forget all the other amazing staff, always smiling, happy to help and continuously giving a friendly and personal touch to the service.
The Lilac bridal suite is beautiful, immaculately clean, has amazing views of the garden, a very comfy bed and a stunning new bathroom.
Over all a truly unique and special venue in Gateshead, with the most caring family of staff, managers and owners you could ever meet!

Outstanding is an understatement!

I recently held my daughter's wedding at Eslington Villa and it was perfect in every sense!

The day was elegant BUT very Relaxed.

Meloney the owner coordinated the day superbly; every request before the day and on the day was met with a smile and was carried out as if all we had just asked for was a cup of tea. She made us so comfortable; as if we were old family friends.
Her staff was also sublimely helpful and extremely friendly.

The wedding breakfast was for sixty plus five children and the food was superb. Often for large groups at some restaurants food looks and tastes mass produced but not at Eslington; the food was of same high standard as when I have been here with just a couple of people.
The canapés and evening hot buffet were also cooked and presented to a very high standard. Breakfast was ordered and served fresh showing again the high standards and attention to detail.
My daughter was married in the beautiful well maintained garden with lovely view over the other side of the valley.

Our rooms continued the elegant theme; but very comfortable and clean.

I can't recommend Eslington; Meloney or her staff highly enough.
