“Great location, nice hotel”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

I enjoyed my overnight stay here. Arrived around 2pm and parked in hotel car park for a charge of approx. £7.00. Check in was easy, staff helpful and friendly. The hotel is quite new and in a great location for restaurants, bars and river views (though not necessarily a view from your bedroom). 2 minutes walk from the Baltic gallery/restaurant and Sage music venue. Our room, on 4th floor (lifts available) overlooking office buildings was quiet, clean and tidy. Flat screen tv, tea/coffee making facilities, comfortable bed. Bathroom perfectly adequate with Gilchrist and Soames shampoo/shower gel/soap dispensers and hairdryer on the wall. Sufficient hanging space for a weekend break. Breakfast buffet was very well done with lots of choice and freshly prepared. Hot drinks from vending dispensers. I'd be happy to recommend the hotel, it is not in the town centre so no traffic noise and only 10 minutes walk to city shops over the Millennium footbridge. A value for money experience. A suggestion for improvement would be to offer free parking to residents on a first come first served basis.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river but be aware that people may be sitting outside with their drinks on sun...

I stayed at the Jurys for one overnight trip whilst travelling to the NE on business. The staff were friendly the restaurant was good and the room was spotless. It is a pleasant location next to the river and I had the best nights sleep I have had in ages. Booked on booking.com and got a great deal for B&B.

Good hotel, clean and modern with a nice bar on the quayside if weather is OK. Couple of problems though car park tiny and therefore need to make alternative arrangements. Don't know if it was just the weekend (Saturday night) we stayed but hotel was full of single sex groups obviously in Newcastle for a night out and atmosphere wasn't particuarly pleasant - I wouldn't fancy staying there with family or with young children.

Decent enough hotel on the south bank of the hotel. Only one thing wrong - the very small car park meant we had to park on the street one night. Free parking stopped at 8.00am and when we went down to move the cars at 8.05am, they already had parking tickets on them, timed at 8.01am! The warden must know hotel residents have no alternative but to park on the streets and were waiting to pounce the second 8.00am passed. I appreciate towns have to manage parking but we were not causing an obstruction, and to give us less that 1 minute's grace was a step too far. I also feel the hotel could have done more to have warned us about the "efficiency" of the wardens.

So booked in and thought "nice hot shower after long day of work"- no hot water.

Called reception- assured the manager was on the roof fixing something, water will be hot in 5 minutes

45 minutes later no hot water- but the manager was working on the issue. (Now thinking Fawlty Towers - Basil on the roof with a spanner!)

So went out- returned to find a letter under door- apologies for the issue and assurance they were working on it

Woke up- no hot water- so cold wash as did not have time to take the free taxi to local leisure centre for a shower. Reception assured me a new part was on way to fix the boiler and there would be hot water by the time I returned

So back after long hot day- still no water- part on way from Leciester and further promises all will be fixed soon

What to do- check out and find somewhere else or hope all is fixed soon.

Fingers are crossed as I write this that there will be hot water soon- if not then will need to find somewhere else.

This is the second time I have stayed here- there is something not quite right about how this hotel works- can't quite work out if it's the building, staff or something else- but very hit and miss on both visits

Good luck if you choose here

The hotel itself is an excellent central location, as expected parking in the city is tricky and you can find a local car park if you drive past the metro radio arena and look to your right £8.00 for 24 hours. The noise levels were reasonable considering our room window on the sixth floor opened directly above the main entrance. Beds are firm, good sized bathroom and plenty of pillows available
