My partner & I stayed for a Saturday night in Newcastle. Having read some of the reviews, we were quite afraid, however, we were pleasantly surprised! Its in Gateshead, but is only 5 mins from Newcastle centre. We were greeted by a very friendly man who helped us out with taxis and gave us information about taxis, where to and where to eat. The room was comfy and clean. It an old ship decor, which we really liked. Its not the ritz, but you aren't exactly paying the Ritz prices either. The breakfast was lovely, Sue was very friendly. We would definitely come back again.

We booked this place for 2 nights for the Sunderland airshow and to be close to my uncles.
What a mistake, place is on some industrial estate, looked closed when we arrived but wasn't.
When we got in its very dated and musty smell, wood paneling on walls and old ruined carpets.1 guy running the place was nice enough.paid the shocking £115 and went up to the room.
That was exactly the same smelly had to open the old windows but bathroom one wouldn't open had to spray deodorant.
Next morning we had a cooked breakfast was OK.the 2 ladies were nice.
Now on the last night there was a power cut.and on the day we left it still wasn't on and I checked the smoke alarm that didn't work either.we managed to get down and out and realized we were the only people in the place and the front door was on the snib.it was only that building that had lost power as everywhere else was fine.
ABSOLUTELY shocking care from the owners anything could have happened when we were in ourselfs with no alarm.

STAY AWAY.

Room Tip: Stay away if you value your life.

We had read these reviews and decided to go anyway.........worse mistake EVER!!!!! The place is in a run down part of town and the cleanliness is terrible. We decided we could get past this as we would be drunk when we had to sleep here anyway but when locking the doors we realised that the key is for the wrong and the key opened all the doors!!!!! Including the downstairs one. We told the owner who obviously knew and demanded our deposits back. He didn't even argue with us and just gave it all back. Please please do not stay here. It's a good job that we realised about the keys otherwise we could have been robbed or even worse!!!!!!

Where do I start! Eventually got to Rowers hotel out in the sticks and it looks across a industrial estate if you want to call it that. Outside of building is dated and windows dirty so was anxious to see inside. Opened door and carpet needed a good clean. Guy came to reception gave us out keys and took our £60 a bit grudged already. Walked upstairs banister was wobbling, got to room open door to a old fashioned boat room look. Old radio, trouser press, hair dryer etc. all around the skirtings was thick dust and even a toe nail, kettle dusty, bathroom toilet dirty, toothbrush holder soap holder old used soap, windows dirty, bin lid filthy. Really not happy went down to speak to guy he came to look at room showed him what I wasn't happy with. He said he would clean it when we were out and gave us £20 back fair enough or so I thought. Came back no hoovering done what so ever! Felt dirty sleeping here went to bed clean woke up dirty was the feeling, breakfast was dodged as we heard microwave ding and if that was the state of the room who knows what the kitchen would look like! Would never stay here again not even if paid! Needs shut down, started again or left for ruins

Well the best thing to do is shut this place down. how it is still open I'm not sure. Me and mate stayed here for our friends 21st. There is cheep and the there is unsafe, we didn't book it but on our arrival we we're unsure to ring the others to inform them about the place. we didn't and decided to hit the bar. we can't say that it wasn't clean but the first two pints we have still had the taste of line cleaner. The hotel has the signs of being a nice place to stay but its dated and unclean. the smoke alarms we're not connected and our room had a bag over it (I guess that makes it a smoking room) can't say I'd want to stay here again, but on a lighter note all the staff we're very friendly so can't understand what's gone wrong with the place other than they must not care :/

My daughters booked this place (as I wouldnt call it a hotel) for an early Xmas present as we were visiting the area for a concert. On checking in the elderly lady was very nice but when we got to the room horror did not even come close. The beds had not been been changed from the previous occupier as there was hair and other unmentionables on the sheets. This was pointed out to the lady and as we were going out straight away said she would change them. The bathroom was Filthy as the floor was sticky and unwashed, the large mirror in the room was broken.
On returning to the place at approx midnight the Fire alarm panel above the front door was squealing quite loud and there was wires hanging from it as there was no-one around I phoned the number on the booking email.and this was dealt with. The newly fitted sheets were stained with what looked like blood and the duvet cover was ripped and the pillows smelt sweat, so we slept on top of the bed fully clothed.
In the morning on the way to the breakfast room there was a lady being watched by another member of staff(with bare feet) trying to reset fuses in the corridor and as she did so got herself an electric shock. One look round the Breakfast room told us to go and eat somewhere else. Dirty cutlery and glasses, Stained table cloths and the place freezing trying to be warmed with a fan heater.
Having stayed at many hotels in the past and some have been real eye openers this place gets the prize for being the worst.

This was the dirtiest most disgusting place I have ever stayed in, ok it was cheap but there is a very good reason, its disgusting, my son and I had a twin room and didn't even dare get into the stained beds, we actually slept fully dressed and put our coats over the dirty stained pillows.
The cutlery at breakfast was crusted in filth.
People in Newcastle laughed when we told them were we were staying.
DO NOT STAY HERE EVER
