“Great Rooms... Dodgy Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie!”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Rooms are more roomy than your average PI and it is in a good location, so no complaints there.
My only issue was the food in the Thyme restaurant that I got served. Pastry that tasted of cardboard and the non existent meat coupled with the extremely crunchy green beans where I had to check my teeth! Basically it was rotten... Although I suppose I ate most of it as I had been travelling 10 hrs & was starving... But then, I would've eaten anything! And I did!! Complained but got no offer of a refund although the lady sitting across got offered a replacement meal & coffee, as she had ordered the same & hardly ate hers... I wish I'd done the same. Maybe it was just a bad batch but put me off going back. Shame... as it's a well laid out dining area with great potential. Still would recommend staying in the rooms though.

Room Tip: 7th floor is excellent

Pre-booked for the Kings of Leon concert and got the room for only £30. Good views outside the window. Spacious clean room. Good shower. Essentially just another great value Premier Inn. Taxi around £7 each way to city centre (bargain compared to back home in Aberdeen which would be double).

As with all Premier Inn's, the all you can eat breakfast is good but far too expensive, although I paid on this occasion as I was pretty hungry.

Easily recommended.

Stayed in a twin room (two double beds) very clean and quiet. Staff were exceptionally helpful to ensure that our stay was comfortable. Ate breakfast in the restaurant which was delicious and staff were on hand to ensure that we were made aware of options available. Receptionist was very helpful and suggested places of local interest to visit.

Stayed for 2 nights on the special offer £29 per room per night, book early scheme for a short break in this area, basically to visit Beamish. I had been overnight previously whilst going to a wedding in the area. The same good standard of room cleanliness, comfort and facilities and friendly staff, that we know and expect of a Premier inn was experienced again.
Comfy clean Bed, Flat screen TV, coffee/tea making facilities.
There is a new restaurant across the road which opened last November, with buffet style carvery or menu food, which was very reasonable and good quality in a lovely clean, bright and airy environment.
There is a Greggs a few doors down from the hotel which sell a bacon butty and tea or coffee for £2 and a breakfast café serving a variety of breakfasts for under £5 each.
If you are in this area Gibside, a National Trust property is well worth a visit.

My stag weekend, with 17 others. Rooms great, Staff great - looked after us. No complaints whatsoever. Although out of Newcastle City Centre, plentiful taxies to get us there and back. On average £6 a car into the 'toon' although double or triple that on the way back in the small hours of the morning.

All you can eat breakfast buffet was a life saver in the morning.

Shower - one of the best i'm came across in a Premier Inn.

Definitely recommended. Would come back.

Newcastle is a remarkably buzzy place. Great shops, plenty of places to eat and lots to do. It also seems to be a top destination for stag and hen dos. It can be a bit nerve racking when you arrive at your hotel early Saturday evening when you are having a "quiet weekend away" with your family and find loads of lads and lasses heading out for their night out. Your immediate thought is of a disturbed night's sleep with the partygoers continuing their festivities after they return to the hotel. However, this was as far from what happened as could be. We all awoke on Sunday morning after a blissful, undisturbed night's sleep. The breakfast, which was a part of our package, was excellent. Food a plenty and of a good quality. The hotel staff, both in the reception and restaurant, were as friendly and helpful as could be. The room was large, spacious and clean. The beds were super comfy. The one thing I found strange was the ensuite shower room. Room is probably too generous a word. It is as small a toilet and shower "cabine" as I have had in any hotel anywhere. It is so small that the washhand basin is in an alcove in the bedroom outside the ensuite and it has a sliding door which my 7 year old son found a bit neavy and hard to open and close. That apart the Premier Inn Team Valley was a good base for a thoroughly enjoyable long weekend away in the North East.
