“Clean, comfy room, 15 minute walk to Metro Centre.”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

Stayed last weekend for 2 nights and found the room to be clean and comfortable. Delighted that they'd provided two single beds for the kids, instead of them having to share a double and there were plenty of clean towels for us all and lots of hot water.

Breakfast was good and is provided in the restaurant/pub next door to the hotel.

Walk to the Metro Centre takes a brisk 15 minutes over extremely busy roads...probably better off driving if you have young children to be honest.

Staff at the hotel were lovely and so helpful with directions to Beamish...which is only a 25 minute drive away.

Would definitely stay again. Booked online in advance and paid only £50 a night for a family of 4 including breakfast...... it was a bargain.

Attended wedding at marriot hotel but this was about a mile away. Plenty of parking, staff helpful and room was nice. Bit expensive as events on in Newcastle but you expect that. Didnt have breakfast. Right next to a food pub.

Excellent value and really good sleep. The room was a very good size, clean and comfortable - staff could not be nicer. We met friends and visited the Metro Centre - we had not seen it for some time and were amazed by the changes. I would recommend it for a visit.

Friendly, helpful checking staff. Close to the metro center. Very popular with families . Taybarn restaurant next door good value for an evening buffet meal . Surprisingly quiet even though it is situated next to the A1 .

We stopped off on the way to Scotland and it was fine. Room was good and easy access to motorway. The weather had cooled off but temperature could have been an issue in the Summer - but a fan had been provided.

The only negative was the adjacent restaurant which was not as good as most associated with Premier Inns i've stayed at. It's cheap, eat as much as you like/can but not a place to relax for the evening. Having said that, staff were pretty good there. Overall not a bad stop over spot and good for exploring Newcastle, the Metro Centre or Hadrian's wall as we did.

Managed to get a room for £29 and it was excellent. I had room 73 which was spacious and clean and the bed comfy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming but a bit pushy re ordering breakfast. It's about a 10 min walk from the metrocentre but beware you have to cross two very busy junctions - opt for a taxi instead which is about £4 each way. It was warm but room windows left open so cool. As it's near a busy road it's not ideal to leave the windows open at night as there isnanbitnof traffic noise. The staff had left a fan in the room however it wasn't needed as the temperature dropped at night. I've stayed in a few premier inns and this one ( though not the best) was good value for money. Breakfast next door at Taybarns is OK but overpriced.

We stayed in 3rd week of August, unknown to us the hotel has problems with controlling the build up of heat in their rooms/corridors. There is no way they can cool their building so our room stayed at 27•c all night & we got about 1 hrs sleep in total. Very poor when we had a full day athletics the next day and 260mile trip home!!
