“A positive return”

This time we returned for a second visit without children. Was impressed with size of room because it only had one double bed rather than the two. Really cheery check in considering it was late after a days shopping, quiet night and cheery check out. Didn't have breakfast as there were only the two adults and no "free children" Certainly not walkable to Metro but easy to get back and forward.

I'm rarely disappointed with a Premier Inn and this is another one to add to the list of great Premier Inns. Clean, modern rooms as always. Friendly staff, the check-in girl was very helpful (II don't recall her name sorry!) in assisting me to locate an address I needed to attend next morning for business. I find Premier Inn staff in general to be very friendly, more so than other hotels I frequent! I like the hiring methods! So often a hotel can be great but service is lacking...simply never the case with Premier Inn!
Only down to my stay was that my room was very cold on arrival. As I arrived early on though and headed out this wasn't too much of an issue but had I arrived late at night and wanted to head to bed I would have been disappointed...and cold! Likewise if I had of had children this would have been an issue for me and the Good Night Guarantee may have had to come into play!
Great location. Very handy if you're going to the Metro Centre or the nearby arena.

Hotel very handy for metro centre and Newcastle arena. Plenty of parking on site. Good clean rooms with bath and shower. Quiet inside and outside rooms. Staff friendly and happy to help with any queries.

The one benefit of staying at any Premier Inn is that one knows what to expect. Room layouts seem to be pretty standard. The receptionists are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are always clean and reasonably well presented. However we arrived late on a Friday afternoon and the room was very cold. The only source of heating is a electric heater which is controlled by a programmable timer. According to the label attached to it, the timer is programmed to go off at 8 a.m. and then has to be reset to stay on during the day. No one had the forethought to switch the timer back on before our arrival. It took well over an hour to get the room to a comfortable temperature. Be aware that corridors are unheated as well, so the whole building felt cold. Back to the programmable timer - we awoke at 7 on Saturday morning to a cold room, the timer had already switched off the heater. Additionally, it took several minutes to get any hot water - this was probably due to the fact that our room was at the end of a long corridor and therefore probably at the end of the pipe run. Premier Inn's have a "good night's sleep" guarantee, which states that if one doesn't sleep well the cost of the room will be refunded without question. We had cause to request a refund, as our room (72) was directly above the Taybarns restaurant and we were awoken at 6:15 on Monday morning by a large lorry sat under our window with it's engine running whilst it unloaded stuff. Despite the sound insulation this woke us up. The refund was given slightly grudgingly, I felt. However we were offered another room, an offer which we refused as we only had one more night before we came home. This Premier Inn is very close to The Metro Centre which for us was the main reason for choosing it, this can of course mean that the Taybarns restaurant is extremely busy at the weekend and indeed this was the case on the weekend we were there. See my separate review of Taybarns.
The room itself, as already mentioned was clean with a very small quantity of tea and coffee on the hospitality tray, but more was readily available from reception without charge. The pressure of the shower and the water temperature was acceptable (once it came through hot)
I would stay at this particular premier inn again, but would be inclined to phone in advance to check the location of the room and to ask that the heater could be on before we arrived.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the back of the hotel near to Taybarns.

Spent 4 nights at the hotel. Very good. Very clean and efficient with an excellent breakfast buffet, But on Saturday night - not so good. Seems to be a magnet for stag do''s / hen parties/ wild weekend away Spent most of the early hours of Sunday listening to loud music or doors slamming or arguments. Otherwise would not fault it other than the bus stop from Newcastle needs crossing a 4-lane dual-carriageway with heavy traffic. If you are looking at a hotel Sunday to Friday then this place is quality. Enjoy

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor. The late night revelers were noisy

Excellent reception staff who couldn't do enough for you. Room comfortable and plenty big enough for us. Bathroom was ideal for our needs. Evening meal and breakfast at the Taybarn attached was very good.
