We called in at the Ship for a lunch. The pub had a lovely atmosphere created by the decor and much enhanced by the friendly staff. The food was absolutely excellent. Everyone in our party of 5 really enjoyed the meal. The following day we ate at Rhodes at the Dome. For quality, value and a atmosphere, it’s the Ship Inn for me anytime!! Definitely a must re-visit venue.

We had stayed in Fowey some 10 years ago and decided this year to make a return visit. We decided to try the Ship for our evening meal, by way of a change, as we hadn't been in before, even for just a drink. We were pleasantly surprised to find a prime table in the bar, and sat ourselves down. The menu isn't too extensive, just manageable , and we both enjoyed burgers (not adventurous but just hit the spot).......the best we've had for some years now!!So much so, we returned 2 nights later to enjoy barbeque chicken and sheperd's pie..(again doesn't sound wild but just what the doctor ordered)..served with lovely fresh vegetables. The portions are generous, I dare anyone to leave here hungry.Good honest food served in interesting surroundings!!

Our stay at Craig and Nickys pub was a very welcome relief after our last B&B. Fabulous breakfast and dinner, brilliant oak room, fab beer of course and such friendly people. Will definately go back, the location was excellent, easy to park in top of town car park and just drive down to pick up your bags. Really clean modern bathrooms with huge shower. Loved it.

Room Tip: the oak room is quirky and interesting, and near the lovely bathroom. The others are still as lovel...

Absolutely love this place. Whenever we visit Fowey we always head in the direction of The Ship. Staff are amazingly friendly and nothing is too much to ask. Make sure you are hungry if you go for a meal. The food is fantastic and really generous portions. Always made to feel welcome whenever we go which is why we love it so much.

Great historical pub in the heart of this pretty estuary town. It was built in 1570 by John Rashleigh, who was one of Queen Elizabeth the 1st's Privateers in her war against the Spanish. Rashleigh also sailed to America with Raleigh and Drake. The pub has retained many old features, including a quirkily-shaped staircase, period bannisters, and a lovely stained glass window in the breakfast/dining room depicting Rashleigh and his fellow men with the Fowey estuary in the background.

While the period features are lovely, there's happily also the comfort of central heating, and a sink in every room. The rooms are presentable. There is one bath & shower room, and one newly fitted and super-clean modern shower room for sharing between all the Inn's rooms, though we spent 4 nights there and never had to queue. The breakfast is probably the best Inn/B&B breakfast I've had to date - generous portions, sourced locally (the meat from the butcher's shop at the side of the pub!) with nice chunky slices of toast. The hosts are also lovely and very friendly.

One note of caution - though as you must be aware - this place is a pub so it's obviously busy and merry in the bar most evenings, and the noise of the punters can be heard in the rooms upstairs, and then there's a bit of noise down on the street at turning out time. The room windows are also old single-glazed sash windows so you can hear passers by on the street very clearly. I had a bit of trouble getting to sleep the first night, but by the next I was used to it!

Location-wise the pub is in a fantastic location for everything - everything is within a few minutes (or even seconds!) walk. There's a great little cafe called Brown Sugar opposite, Tourist Information shop, and a cashpoint, and the quayside is just round the corner. As for parking - it is very very limited in the town because of the extremely narrow streets, and it's far better to park in one of the public car parks up the hills. You can buy a £35 permit from the Tourist Information shop which will cover you in a decent list of Cornwall car parks for one week. (We parked in the long-stay Main Car Park, then followed the steep pathways down the hill to the pub.) If you can't manage the steep walk though there is a little minibus that helpfully takes you from the car parks to drop you right outside the tourist info shop every 15 minutes from 10:30am til about 4 or 5pm every day.

All in all this place is recommended! :)

Room Tip: The Oak Room still has the old period oak panelling on the walls, though we did not stay in it - we...

We stayed 1 night over Easter break and really enjoyed our stay. We booked the Oak room after reading a few reviews and it is beautiful. The place is really old but really well looked after. No ensuite but both bathrooms are brand new and clean it was not so much of a bother. The breakfast was delicious, served in the interesting dining room full of souvenirs. Perfectly located in Fowey which is a really nice town.

We stayed for 3 nights in December whilst visiting some friends. On arrival the staff greeting us like old friends and they couldn't be more helpful. Our room was spotless, cosy and comfy. Wasnt a problem that there was no ensuite as two bathrooms were just across the hall and were lovely and clean. Breakfast was lovely and huge ! Had dinner in pub one night and again was fantastic, burgers are fantastic. We had a great time and will definetly be staying again. Best place to stay in Fowey x
