“We just love going back !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013

Just returned from a couple of days at this wonderful hotel. It's our third stay, (though we have also called in for that 'Truly Scrumptious' afternoon tea reviewed elsewhere by Cathy B, and agree with all she says!)
We took my 80 odd and 90 odd year old mother and in-laws on this occasion in the certain knowledge the lovely young staff would do all they could to help make everyone's stay enjoyable, and of course we were not disappointed. So, when considering a 'family hotel', be assured Fowey Hall isn't just great for young families ( it is !), because we older couples with octogenarian parents can enjoy it just as much.
Don't forget the Fowey Town bus departs from the car-park alongside the hotel so is ideal for families of any age wanting to go up and down the steep hill into the delightful town. Another 'well done' and sincere thanks to all at Fowey Hall.

Room Tip: Try asking for a room with sea views.

I was fortunate enough to have a voucher for afternoon tea for two at this hotel, and after a delightful morning on Saturday spent Christmas shopping in the town, my friend and I headed back up the hill, eagerly anticipating this special treat. As the hotel came into sight, our first impressions were wow! A stunning building with beautifully kept grounds and the most glorious views over Fowey. What a location!

I had phoned two days earlier to make the booking and after a very warm welcome from the receptionist we were given a guided tour and shown a choice of rooms where we could take tea. We opted for the spacious lounge with large, comfy sofas and a roaring log fire. The perfect place to snuggle down and relax on a November afternoon.

Within ten minutes our tea arrived and what a tea it was! Four different types of finger sandwiches, scones with jam and a mountain of clotted cream, slices of Victoria sandwich and walnut tea bread, melt in the mouth mini lemon macaroons, fudge brownies and little balls of almond and nut heaven, all served with a large pot of freshly made tea.

We both agreed that the whole experience was truly scrumptious and vowed to return again in the very near future.
Thank you to all concerned for a delightful few hours in this gem of a Cornish retreat.

We think this hotel is the best place to stay in England!
The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The welcome we had made all the difference to our stay.
We stayed for 2 nights bed, breakfast and dinner and the food was wonderful, the building is imposing and the interiors are interesting and comfortable.
The views from our bedroom could not be bettered and the hotel is an ideal base to explore the area.
Although of the older generation, we appreciate how fabulous this place is for children and their parents.
Please don't change a thing, we want to come back!

Room Tip: Its worth asking for a room overlooking the river and sea. Wonderful!

Just got back from a short stay at the Fowey hall hotel, kicking ourselves for not finding it when our teenagers were younger. This is certainly the ideal haven for families needing a well earned break. Just the 2 of us this stay, we up graded to a suite which was lovely an comfortable.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful we even had a greeting from Bramble the hotel dog!
Dinner in the adult only dining room was first class..
Breakfast, informal relaxed. We would happily recommend this hotel and look forward to going back soon.

Room Tip: The Robin suite is great for families.

We visited the hotel in November managing to get a last minute booking directly with the hotel. Stupidly I declined the offer of taking the mid-week offer which included two two-course dinners while we were there, thinking that the food might not be great. How wrong was I!!
But first, the place itself is just lovely - very beautiful old house with a lovely view of Fowey. You enter to the warmth of log fires and a very welcoming and pleasant staff. Our room was under the eaves and while a little bit old fashioned it was nevertheless well equipped with a lovely en-suite and separate adjoining room for our two children. Only small quibble was the shower was a touch difficult to regulate and perhaps needed a glass door to prevent water going all over the floor. But that aside we had very good sleep there. Loved the old fashioned radio on the bedside table.
The food is excellent with a lovely choice for breakfast including good range of healthy options. The evening dinner was delicious and I regretted not taking advantage of the offer as we did end up adding to our bill unnecessarily - but that was our fault.
The little touches like the bowl of fruit in the lobby to the shelves of paperback books scattered around the hotel as well as wellington boots/ toys to borrow make this a perfect spot to come with children. Cinema night for the kids. And all that before I mention the trampoline and the zip wire - what more could you want. Oh I forgot the swimming pool with the 'fat boy' bean bags for parents to lounge around on if they were not having a dip!
A lovely trip - a lovely hotel.

Where do I begin? Fowey Hall is our family's favourite place to stay in Cornwall. You cannot beat a nice sit-down by one of the fireplaces with a good book while the kids while away a few hours in the creche. Friendly staff always on hand to make sure your needs are met - Ben in particular was very good - and excellent, knowledgeable reception staff. Most recently we travelled with our two children, ages six and three, who could not get enough of the den. Many thanks, especially to Emma and Zoe. The children are still talking about the "den ladies!"

Upon our arrival, our bags were whisked up to the room. We stayed in a bright and clean large suite on the first floor which suited our needs down to the ground with plenty of space for us all. I had been a bit silly and did not book any spa treatments until after arrival at the hotel. Mel at the front desk was fantastic in getting me squeezed in and the facial from Learne was fantastic.

Bramble the dog was a treat for the children. Although my son is wary of dogs, we walked Bramble down into Fowey and by the end they were the best of friends. Fowey Hall is one of those places that really is a home away from home. We cannot wait to visit again! Many thanks for making us feel so welcome.

As long term visitors to Fowey we thought it was well overdue for us to visit Fowey Hall. We were staying down the hill but decided to visit for a morning coffee.

We were very impressed by the welcome and service we received even though we weren't resident at the hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and we were amazed at just how family friendly the setup was, as this was the total opposite of what we'd expected to find. As soon to be parents this has been firmly noted and I hope we can come and stay ourselves in the new
year after our baby arrives!
