We visited last Sunday for a relaxing lunch. We called ahead and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming over the phone and when we arrived. We ordered a couple of main meals for ourselves and as our children had already had some lunch they shared a children's meal which the staff kindly divided into two portions for us. The food was truely fabulous and the peaceful atmosphere was just what we needed. We were able to sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful sea view and gardens while our children (2 and 5) played on the trampoline and played with the garden toys - the zip wire was a real hit (although it did narrowly miss the tree which should probably be checked...)

The front of house staff is what makes this place - so welcoming and really can't do enough to help. We will most definitely be back as residents!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fowey Hall. It is a beautiful Hotel, with fantastic views across the estuary and out to sea. The service was personable and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We went with our two children, aged 8 and 6 and they immediately were at home, running to the zip-wire and exploring the garden, which is lovely. There were activities for kids such as toasting marshmallows and collecting eggs from the chickens. Kids enjoyed the cinema room too.

Our room was a family suite and was beautiful, in the main house, with views out to the Estuary and the Sea, separate bunk room for the children and a huge main bedroom. Picking up on a negative review I read about the Hotel not being of 5 star quality, perhaps the rooms are not quite 5 star, but the beautiful views and the period property features more than make up for 5 star perfection. I found the beds very comfortable. Having stayed at a fair few hotels since we have had kids, Fowey Hall did not disappoint.

Our kids went to the kids club and enjoyed the activities, we went to the Spa and had a treatment - again, the staff were very good, approachable and friendly. It's not a full Spa in the sense of a sauna, steam room etc, but had a lovely terrace for sunbathing. Would be nice to have an outdoor pool for the hot weather. It is a family friendly hotel but you didn't feel that any compromise is being made because of that. The Hotel was quite full when we were there, but felt relaxed and spacious and peaceful. The Restaurant food was very good, nicely executed, well appointed rooms, elegant, although I expect if you were staying for longer than a weekend you may want a more varied menu. Overall, we didn't like it....we loved it!

Room Tip: It was good to have a room in the main house as it was near to everything, our family suite had grea...

Dear Kate

Thanks for leaving us such a positive review, I will pass on your comments to the team. I take your point that we're not a 5 star hotel in the traditional sense, I would describe us more as a home from home where families of all ages can come have a wonderful time in this old home, be looked after and pampered by our friendly team (and Bramble!) It does sound as though you and your family really enjoyed this aspect of what we do.

I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Warm regards

Chris

Fabulous view over the estuary into Fowey.
Excellent staff and very good well presented food.
We had two rooms and beds in both were appalling, no air conditioning and furniture from a secondhand shop.
Great facilities for kids and nothing too much trouble.
Spa is a bit mickey mouse, the pool says its 1.2m deep, i reckon it is the shallowest pool I have ever been in. The hot tub is a domestic size and my daughter had her nails done, pretty poor job. Overheard another guest say they had a very uninspiring massage also.
Furniture in the public rooms is a mish mash of stuff well past its sell by date. However the place is clean and the staff do try their very best.

Dear Andrew

Thanks for your feedback, it sounds as though overall you and your family enjoyed your visit with us, but you found the beds to be uncomfortable and your daughter wasn't totally happy with her nails. Please accept my apologies. I will check the rooms that you stayed in and change the mattresses, I would also like to offer your daughter a complementary spa treatment on your next stay.

Please contact me when you are thinking of returning as I would like to take care of your booking personally and ensure we do get the 5 * next time!

Warm regards.

Chris.

We stayed three nights with two kids (11 and 13) and had a great time. It is probably an ideal place for kids 10under but even our teenagers enjoyed the views and the atmosphere (and not least the table tennis room!). Staff was super friendly (particularly if to single out some the receptionist and the hotel manager), the food in the restaurant was excellent and the rooms nice and spaceous. It is well worth the price. Fowey is a nice little town with lots of restaurants and things to do and see in town or around town.

If there is sth that could be improved than the waiting time for coffee (cappucino) in the morning. Apart from that the a la carte breakfast was delicious.

Dear Norbert

Thanks for leaving us such a great review, we do have lots of activities for younger ones but it does sound as though your 11 & 13 year olds had fun while they were here, next time you come we can arrange some sailing at Polkerris beach or perhaps kayaking up the Fowey estuary. I will also pass on your feedback to the reception team.

Warm regards.

We stayed with our three children for a weekend during June. The hotel, as you would expect, was excellent. The team were friendly and the service very good, although a little slow on the second evening. Our children ate early each evening and then much enjoyed cinema night (a small taste of independence whilst we enjoyed dinner on our own - independence for us I mean!!). The room was quaint with a main room and two small rooms to the side for the children, one with its own porthole! One small gripe was that the room, in the eaves, was very hot, but then if was hot outside, so mustn't grumble! The hotel has great facilities with pool, spa, kids toys, such as trampoline etc. Food, wine selection also great for mum and dad to enjoy a rest too!

Dear Anthony

I love your "treat in the heat" review, we are having another lovely summer in Cornwall and you and your family clearly had a lovely visit with us. Your point about being able to enjoy an adult dinner while your children watch a movie close by really sums up our approach to being family friendly. I am sorry though that the service was a little slow on the second night and I will follow up with martin on this.

I look forward to your return to Fowey Hall.

We have just sampled the amazing afternoon tea at this beautiful hotel. The staff were so attentive and the views are outstanding which match the stunning array of treats available for tea. Sandwiches, scones and cakes all accompanied by pots of tea. We will definitely be back, thank you!

I love this hotel. It's beautiful with great views and very friendly staff. We stayed in the John Hanson room which is gorgeous. There are high ceilings ,beautiful old light fittings, a grand old wardrobe and amazing views of the sea. This is a 2 bed suit. The master bedroom was very grand with a huge ( very comfortable) bed. The suit has a beautiful bathroom with a free standing bath and separate walk in shower. The spare room was nicely furnished with bunk beds. Both rooms had tv's and DVDs. My only criticism is that the wifi is a bit random. It worked well in the bathroom/ smaller bedroom but not so well in the master bedroom .

The food is excellent and the staff are very helpful. There is a lovely relaxed welcoming atmosphere at the hotel and I can't recommend it highly enough. The spa was great and the view from the sun beds is fantastic. Whether or not you have children with you on a visit to this hotel it's a truly wonderful place.

Dear Nicky

Thanks for such a great review! John Hanson (as well as being your room) was the brother to Charles Hanson who build Fowey Hall as his home over 100 years ago. This is the room that his brother would stay in when he visited. It sounds like you and your family enjoyed you visit and we look forward to you coming back again.

I'm sorry about the wifi, we're bring to get an upgrade to the super fast broadband but in the meantime I will see if Jon Broom our IT specialist can improve things.

Kind regards

Mel
