We stayed for Christmas 2013 and it really does have the makings of a great little hotel.
Pascal and the team are very good and the bar is cosy and warm.
Our bedroom unfortunately was double aspect and the double glazed windows have no thermal break, the radiators are very old singles and are inadequate for the room and the bathroom was a veritable ice box with just a tiny radiator and a large cast iron bath with a hand held shower
It is also weird to provide a kettle but it then has to be plugged in on the floor as the socket on the dressing table is too far away from the surface (or the kettle lead is too short?)
I can imagine that when the weather is less cold it will be lovely and Pascal is working his way through each room refurbishing them thoroughly so hopefully by next Xmas these niggles will be fixed.
Pascal cooks a mean hog roast and have to say the Boxing Day offering was excellent especially as we ate it in the bar and not the chilly dining room.
Would I go back again? Potentially in the summer but not in the winter unless the heating issues were resolved.
And beware at Christmas the staff, with I'm sure good intentions, tried to seat us altogether for lunch. But as someone with hearing difficulties I struggle with lots of folk talking at once and had to insist on being seated separately. What surprised all of us was not being asked what we wanted to do? The only failure in the team's sure footedness over the holiday period.

We had the Breton Stew and the fish chowder, both were superb and made our hearts sing. The puddings were also glorious and topped off a just lovely lunch. All in all a meal to remember! A cold and gloomy Thursday made perfect.

We stayed at the Old Ferry Inn having looked for a short break in Cornwall. The road was exceptionally steep, but parking on the street was safe and, with directions, we found the small inn car park which is separate from the inn itself. The staff were helpful and friendly. In the bar, they serve local cider and as much of the food is sourced locally as possible. Our room was clean, well appointed and had a stunning view along the River Fowey all the way to the sea. The bathroom was exceptionally small, but served it's purpose. We chose to eat at the inn every night and were able to sit in a lounge room, in the bay window, watching the river go by. It is worth noting that the ferry between Bodinnick and Fowey stops at 7pm, but this did not bother us as we were looking for a quiet, peaceful break which we certainly got.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an estuary view although this does mean a longer walk and stairs.

We stayed here at the beginning of Feb during the storms. The Ferry Inn was very warm and comfortable with everything you needed. We ate at there on both nights of our stay and the food was very good with huge portions. Excellent view of the river and ferry from our room but very quiet. We had an ensuite shower room in our room which was small but with plenty of hot water and towels. Good stay and would stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with view of the river

We stayed here on Monday 3rd February and our room No 5 had great views over the river, some people might not like this room as it has a private bathroom (no en-suite) just around the corner from the room, but it is private and locked and you are given dressing gowns, As stated by other people who have stayed here we agree with their opinions of the owner/bar staff. The evening meal was cooked by Pascal, the bar cosy and warm. Pity about the weather as nothing could be done about that

Room Tip: Estuary rooms are the best for views, Room 5
