“Fantastic”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

I have visited the Trevanion Guest House twice now and both times I have had a fantastic experience! The house itself is very beautiful with a really cottage feel about it. It is situated in an ideal location, just a 5 minute walk to the main high street in Fowey which is right next to the river. Everything is within walking distance of the guest house and parking is available either outside the guest house or in a garage just a couple of minutes walk away. The couple that own this guest house are lovely. They make you feel so welcome and are always pleased to see you and provide great advice, tips and guidance on what to do in the local area and how to get to places! They are the font of all knowledge and take the time to talk to you about your day! Poppy, their parrot of 13 years, adds character and is very entertaining, especially if you've got kids! Breakfast is brilliant, loads of variety available from fully English, continental and vegetarian breakfasts. As well as fresh fruit and cereals. The rooms are beautiful. Really spacious rooms, central heating and wide windows allowing for excellent views. The beds are really comfortable and the facilities in the room include, tea, coffee making facilities, towels, hairdryer, showers (I think some rooms come with baths too), tvs and sofas. I really cannot recommend this place enough and I paid the same price for a room in 2013 that I did in 2011 so they are not ripping you off! Definitely pay the Trevanion a visit!

If you are looking for power showers, plastic double glazing and efficiently characterless rooms, then the Trevanion Guest House is probably not for you. Ali and Steve, with the assistance of Poppy, are the proprietors of this B and B, which is in an old property situated just above the Church in Fowey and a 5 minute walk steeply downhill into the centre of pretty Fowey. Conveniently placed almost next door is the Safe Harbour pub which is a popular watering hole for locals and a great spot to sit with a drink to admire the view over the town and the river.
Our bedroom, with a large separate bathroom, was very comfortable and well provided, though the shower was under powered and idiosyncratic. Breakfasts in a downstairs dining room, full of quirky artefacts were copious and offered plenty of choices of styles ranging from continental to a wonderfully artery blocking full Farmhouse dish. Fresh fruit was delicious and very varied and all ingredients were carefully locally sourced and of high quality.
Our hosts were always available and went out of their way to make our short stay an entirely happy one.

We've been regulars to Trevanion now for several years, and wanted to share our experiences with other potential users. It is old and quirky, but Ali and Steve play to this to create a really happy experience for users. The rooms are all well appointed, some with fabulous views over the town and harbour, and all nicely decorated with little touches that make them feel comfy and relaxing. Being a very old house, you shouldn't expect high tech plumbing - water pressure is a bit low, but this is actually the case for many, if not most, B&Bs and independent hotels. But the bathrooms are large and nicely decorated. If showering is your 'thing', probably best to mention it to Ali when booking and I'd imagine she'll recommend which room is best for you.

It has always seemed that nothing is too much for the hosts of this lovely place. The breakfasts (as many have already commented) are divine, and Ali and Steve have always tried to meet other reasonable requests and to help when there are any difficulties. A couple of years' ago, we were inspired to ask them if they'd be prepared to arrange a special family meal for our relatives who live in the area so that our family could be together. This they did to our great satisfaction and we have many happy memories of that evening.

If you're going to Fowey, this is THE place to stay!

We stayed in the Travanion at the end of our Saints Way walk. Our room was quite hot (yes, it was during a heat wave, but I noticed when walking by some of the other rooms that they seemed to get more of a breeze) and some things didn't work, such as the light over the bathroom mirror. But the outstanding breakfast, with lots of choices and especially lots of fruit, really made up for that. Make sure you ask for the wifi code, and check again if it doesn't seem to work (our hostess copied it wrong initially).

We found Trevanion through the South West Coast Path guide. Our room was nice and large with plenty of luggage storage. The only reason we didn't give top marks was the inadequate electric shower. Breakfast was excellent and our hosts were very friendly. Fowey itself is a pleasant little place with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops.

Professional friendly and affordable the three things a B&B should be returned for another enjoyable stay as a short break with my mother. Packed lunches provided were perfect, if you want a place that is unique and friendly and delivers that extra something special then book in will be returning again

We've just returned from staying at this B&B for the weekend. We went for the Fowey Festival of Words & Music.
The B&B was well placed, near the town & not far from the Festival Village.
We were given a warm welcome by Ali & Steve; the room was great & comfortable, nicely decorated .
The breakfast was fabulous with so many choices!
It was a great choice - thank you!
