“Lovely lunch”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We had a 2 for £12 lunch and had the gammon steak, egg, chips and peas. Was a lovely lunch and a good size portion. Nice friendly place with a gorgeous view on the waterfront, will be coming back again!

Great pub with rooms right on the Fowey river. Pleasant bedroom well fitted with flat screen TV DVD player and radio. Nice selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate with biscuits. Pretty bathroom and fluffy towels. Excellent pub grub served till 9.00pm and live music on Fridays. Very popular with locals and visitors alike and friendly atmosphere. Parking (payable) just five minutes walk away, but unloading space very close.

Room Tip: If you aren't a late night person and stay on a Friday night, ask to be as far from the music as...

Stayed one night while cycling from Land's End to John O' Groats. They could not have been more helpful with storing the bike safely and the room and food were first class. Wonderful position right on the river. Given the quality of the room and the food and breakfast the Galleon represents very good value for money. Highly recommended

Lovely location on the waterfront. Seems to be a very popular place. Thought maybe that was due to the location and limited places open to eat. But having had lunch I can imagine people go just as much for the food. We chose meals from the 2 for £ 12 menu (fish and chips and a cauliflower and broccoli bake with garlic bread) and were surprised by the size of the portions. Both meals tasted fresh (the fish apparently having been caught that morning) and cooked very well. The popularity and food being cooked fresh does mean obviously a bit of a wait for food but worth it. Would definitely go again if in the area.

On a boat trip from Polperro. Called in for lunch 2 meals for £12 was great value. The fish and chips was lovely.
It was a sunny day and we managed to get a great bench outside by the harbour side. Really nice friendly pub.

Went there for a Sunday Lunch with my wife. Great pub and lovely location.
The bad part (why 3 stars and not 4) was that the music was far too loud for lunchtime. A bit of a turnoff for conversation.
The rest of the experience was very good. The food was excellent and the service great. Good choice of menu.
Would go again for the food, not the music.

Stayed for just 1night for a valentine treat. Absolutely fantastic, as usual. Great room, the're all good but get a river view if you can. Shared a pizza at lunch outside overlooking the river. The sun was shining, I know, quite a surprise considering the recent weather, and the place was heaving but were served quickly. A fab evening meal too, remarkable prices and you don't get ripped off on the drinks either. The welcome you get in the morning is only 2nd to the lovely view from the conservatory with more great food. A theme is building here but honestly when, after a huge evening meal you think you could never eat again, somehow you can't refuse the full english. Friendly, welcoming, a perfect break. Have stayed before and have already booked for 2 more visits this year. The food is so good we have even made the hour and 45 min journey each way just for Sunday lunch! Only left this morning and can't wait to return. Highly recommended.
