“GREAT HOTEL WITH GREAT SOFAS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed overnight in January with dinner, b&b. Check-in was welcoming and smooth and even got an upgrade without asking. Room was super with large bathroom and huge bed with views over Lough Erne. Spent the afternoon sitting on the super sofas in the reception/lounge area with a good book and a pot of tea. Even more enjoyable with the bad weather outside.

Dinner was in the Silks Restaurant. The good news is that the service and the food were really good. Good choice on the menu, full of flavour food and attentive service. Bad news is that the room itself was definitely something from the 70's. Poor atmosphere, largely due to the poor lighting and dark wood.

Breakfast was in the restaurant next morning. Self service apart from tea and toast. Just do not like toast served when eating cereal. Seemed to be a good choice for the healthy guests and the hot breakfast was ok - not bad, not great.

Big strong points were the leisure facilities. Fantastic pool and spa. Gym was the biggest I have seen in a hotel in the UK. The hotel operates a public club and while the facilities can get busy at some times, it was not too bad in mid-morning.

Overall experience was excellent and I would not let appearance of the restaurant take away from all of the positives. Not one word of complaint about the staff - all happy to help. Really looking forward to going back in the summer to enjoy some walks.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade - some lovely suites with views over the lough.

Dear Smilingguest
Thank you for your great review of our "great sofas" - any one of them is a good spot to sit and watch dodgy weather! Chef uses quality and locally sourced produce on the menus. Good to note food service was up to standard and your check-in was excellent. Many thanks for your kind words, many regards, Leigh Watson, HR manager.

This place has some great reviews but my standards must be getting higher. It is in a beautiful location and cannot fault it. On entering the hotel my checkin was smooth, efficient and friendly. The lobby was spacious and comfortable. My room was spacious and clean but it look dated and dull. It had everything you would want in a room but I would of expected at least some heat in the room. Window was open and heating swtched off. January in this area is cold and wet. The bathroom is a good size also. To spend more than a couple of nights here, no thankyou.
I was only spending one night on business and quite happy to leave next morning. Bed was OK but heating must of gone off overnight and again, room cold.
I ate in the lounge area where bar food is served. Staff polite but slow. Not very attentive. Food was ok for bar food. I had a steak sandwich and steak was tough and well done. Price was reasonable.
Breakfast was good. Plenty to choose from but again, staff slow and not very attentive to your needs as in wanting coffee. Had to wait ten minutes before anyone came near table & there were only eight tables occupied.
I did not use the restaurant or Spa but was informed by friend that both were nice. I think this hotel lives on its reputation of the Spa in a beautiful location but to class as 4 star. I don't think so!
For the price I paid. It was fine but would source another hotel if visiting location for pleasure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lough

Had a fabulous weekend at the Killyhevlin. Beautiful views over the water from our room & also lovely comfy seats in the bar/lounge areas to relax & enjoy these views. Pool area is very well maintained & 1 of the cleanest hotel leisure areas we have been in. All staff were welcoming & helpful & the staff in the restaurant were particularly attentive & friendly. We had a bar meal on the 1st night which was faultless & very reasonably priced - as were the drinks. The restaurant meal on the 2nd night was superb. This was our 1st visit to the Killyhevlin - but it certainly won't be the last!

I booked in for two nights business trip, arriving at 11.30pm. My reservation details were laid out at reception, enabling a super-fast check in, and within a couple of minutes I was in my room. The standard of the room was excellent - spotlessly clean, and spacious - with tea and coffee making facilities and some excellent oatmeal cookies.

Good (new) tv, modern bathroom with tub and separate shower, and a first-class breakfast (on hotplate first day and cooked to order the second day). I wish I had time to try the swimming pool. Grounds looked immaculate also. I heartily recommend it.

Room Tip: I was on ground floor, and hotel was more or less full, but heard no noise from other guests

£59 pp Dinner Bed & Breakfast (Thursday Night) + £10 room upgrade = AWESOME. 2 double beds in room, rooms are large and beautiful. Beds comfy, and pillows are normal hotel pillows, but they have loads in the cupboard which is good. Tea & Coffee making facilities, with 10 wee milks! Well thought out. Room had separate bath and shower.

Health centre, is clean, large and an excellent pool, I had a 30 min deep tissue massage - very good, wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, and only £30.

Food is of good quality, although not as styled as you might see in belfast, but you will enjoy it... you will not go home hungry. Staff are very helpful, especially as we had a young son, couldn't do enough for us.

Overall a great break, just wish we stayed 2 nights!

Room Tip: £10 upgrade to a premier room is well worth it

Not a bad hotel by any means. The rooms do need updated as the Tvs are well out of date. They are in bad need of Air con in the rooms as the heat would kill you!. Overall not a bad experience for the price.

Dear Clark K
Thank you for your thoughts on our hotel. We have a redecorating programme in action and plan to have quite a percentage of our rooms repapered and fitted with new furniture, some are getting new bathrooms and TVs are being replaced in line with the change over in October - fear not - all is in hand! Ultimately you agree you didn't have a bad experience and you felt you got value for money. Many thanks for the feedback, kind regards, Leigh Watson, HR manager.

This is my 4th time staying in this hotel, and on special request, they very kindly gave us a room with a lakeview, and it was a spectacular view, waking up to that every morning was pure bliss.

The room, was very spacious, very clean and tidy, the bathroom was lovely, the room was a nice warm temperature, but we could turn down the radiators easily. They have tea and coffee facilities, and a nice big TV with lots of channel, and Wireless internet for catching up on emails!

The Leisure facilities are excellent, mainly becuase of the warmth! The changing rooms are nice and clean, well-kept, heated flooring! the main swimming pool area is also a nice temperature that you can sit on the leisure charis provided and not feel cold. The swimming pool water is warm enoug that you can easily swim striaght in and not feel a chill. It has a nice big open jacuzzi that you walked into as opposed to the old-fashioned plastic jacuzzis. This i a tiled area, which has room for about 8 people at once.

The sauna and steam room are great, but the best is the Hot Tub!! Its lovely and warm, and its great to breath in the fresh air... our only wish was that it had a window looking out to the lake!

The hotel is 'slightly' dated however the food is great, high standard, the prices are great value, the bar food is great, the staff are excellent!

We spent the whole time in the hotel between the leisure area, the restaruant and bar area, and thoroughly enjoyed all of it.

It has plenty of car park spaces, amazing views, and a short distance into Eniskillen, less than 5mins.

Excellent location, and we hope to spend many more holidays in this hotel!

Room Tip: I definitely recommend a lakeview
