“Fantastic resort”
Reviewed 3 June 2013 via mobile

Just home from a truly fabulous mini-break in Lough Erne. Beautiful hotel. Gorgeous location. Amazing afternoon tea served by Anna who was confident and enthusiastic and most knowledgeable about a range of teas. Really great dinner with extensive menu and impeccable service. Wonderful prenatal massage by Alicia. Accommodation relatively expensive but worth it for high quality service, food and all round wonderful experience. We will return.

Dear Aisling 23,
Traditional Afternoon Tea in the Garden Hall at Lough Erne Resort is one of the most popular offerings that customers enjoy and I am glad you did too ! I have passed your kind comments
onto Anna.
The team of authentic Thai therapists certainly enhance the whole experience in the Thai Spa with a range of wonderful treatments on offer.Alicia was delighted with your review.

We look forward to your next visit and best of luck in the coming months !

Just returned from a stay at the lodges which were excellent. When we checked we were made very welcome and escorted to our lodge, bags carried to our room and shown the facility. The rooms are very spacious, a beautiful living area with french doors out onto a terrace with superb views of the lough.

Adrian the manager personally greeted us and dropped in during our stay to see how we were getting on.

We had a beautiful lunch in the club house on arrival and an adequate breakfast the next morning.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Lodge 6 has a great view and its location to the hotel very good

Dear shintyNIreland,
The Lakeside Lodges have become extremely popular with our guests as they offer more space as you suggest and a living room area as well. The decor and furnishings are the same standard as the Hotel rooms and can accommodate 4- 6 people.Great packages are available over the summer !

Delighted you enjoyed your meal in the Loughside Bar & Grill which offers a casual menu alternative to the Catalina Restaurant. The short rib of beef is a favourite with our customers.

Thanks for your comments

Kind regards

JOHN

This hotel is situated in a superb setting and excellent for photo opportunities -
We attended a wedding last night & as soon as we arrived we had high hopes. The reception (very small and cramped) was manned by Eimear and despite our rooms not being ready she gave the option to use the members loft to freshen up and change - this was a lovely touch. Stephen our valet brought all the luggage etc up and showed us to the members loft, lovely service.
We returned back to the hotel after the wedding and reception staff were anything but pleasant - Nicola (longer dark haired - as it was manned by 2 Nicola's) told us the rooms were not ready, and couldn't even give us a smile - no "welcome to the hotel, or have a nice stay"
A few mins later our room was ready, checked in and gave our keys within mins - again no passion from the staff - in fact she appeared to be in a mood and unwilling to help.
Gerry the porter - fab...
Food at the wedding was beautiful - that's where the service comes in.. The waiting staff were sensational, topping up wine every time the glass was empty.
Rooms are very very warm - and no Air con - we called guest services and requested fans - these we're brought to our room and switched on as we ate.. Fantastic touch...
The hotel in general is very dated, especially the rooms - perhaps the decor and theme they are going for however for the price - we expected more from the rooms - our toilet seat was broken -
Breakfast was beautiful - it was self serve - which to be honest I expected more - you can get different eggs and fresh pancakes and syrup - however you must add for this..
Check out... Basically it was took our keys and that's it.. They didn't ask if we had a nice stay etc...
Service from all the staff was excellent bar the reception staff (excluding Eimear)..
We had a great stay and it's lovely hotel -
Perhaps a tad too expensive - and would have been a fantastic stay if it wasn't for the poor attitudes of some..
Place is spotless, cleaners do the place justice -
Would probably not stay here again- unless I had to.

Dear Colin M,
The caption 'bad service' seems to be slightly at odds with the praise contained in your review for the housekeeping staff, bar staff, waiting staff and catering staff. I have also passed on your complimentary remarks to Stephen ,Eimear and Gerry from our front of house team.

There are two options for residents at breakfast time in the Catalina Restaurant , a buffet option which you alluded to and also a menu option that offers plated service to your table.

I can only apologize if you were unhappy with the service you received at the Hotel reception and hope it will not deter you from returning in the future.

Kind regards
JOHN

I am honestly shocked to see poor reviews of this hotel so felt I had to even up the field! I stayed here for two nights in May for my sister's wedding and struggle to think of anything bad to say about the place! The staff couldn't do enough for us.In fact I have never encountered such helpful and friendly staff in any hotel I've stayed in before. The food was delicious, well presented and hot. The rooms were spotless and spacious with comfy beds......I could go on. The location is superb!! Will be back as soon as I can. Can't recommend it enough! !

Just returned from an overnight stay. Our room was overlooking the car park and a grassy bank, this uninspiring view was partially blocked by a tree in front of the window which added to the overall gloomy feeling of the room. We were surprised to discover firstly, the windows could only be opened a fraction and secondly, there was no air conditioning which I would have expected to be a standard facility in 5 star accomodation. Staff were quite unhelpful and indeed the porter/serviceman left us a cheeky note pointing out that heating was off and room temperature was merely ambient. Reception staff eventually offered some advice on how to override the window's safety catch. I must admit to being quite nervous about undertaking this unsafe manoeuvre whilst balancing on the armchair. Whilst this did reduce the room temperature the payback came in the form of a night's sleep which was frequently disturbed by noise from carpark.
As a vegetarian my meal was disappointing, it appeared to be a selection of hot/cold starters with a bowl of soggy boiled rice and furthermore it was very slow to arrive(it was only with much persuasion that my fellow diners ate their main course whilst I continued to wait). On a more positive note the breakfast was very good, restaurant and view beautiful. Our waitress Ciara was delightful.
I'm sorry to conclude that no matter what management has to say this was an unopportunity lost to secure the good praise, personal recommendations, loyalty and not least to say small financial gain of two potential return guest.s

Dear HannaH3025,
I was disappointed to read your recent review of your stay with us and comments regarding your view from your Courtyard Room which over looks the entrance to the Hotel. Our Lakeview Rooms over look Castle Hume Lough.
Unfortunately the windows in all our rooms are subject to health and safety regulations which restricts the opening somewhat.
I have passed your comments on to our Chef regarding your vegetarian meal and indeed your kind comments on to Ciara our waitress.
Thank you for taking time to post your review.

Stayed here St. Patrick's weekend, so disappointing....no atmosphere, staff like robots. Room nice but nothing special considering the price. Breakfast-fairly standard buffet, evening meal over priced for what was served up! Also ate in golf club after round of golf, service was really bad and there was more staff than customers at the time! Had looked forward to this weekend away for so long, but certainly will not be back!

Dear Kardon,
It was with regret I read your review and surprised with your comments regarding our staff who are invariably complimented for their service and interaction with our customers but apologies if that was not your experience.
We also had a popular local band in the Blaney Bar on St. Patricks weekend and by all accounts it was well received by residents.

Thank you for taking time to post your comments.

We ate in the bar 2 weeks ago and weren't disappointed the standard of service and food was exceptional right through from our starters to our coffee. Even though the food was expensive it was worth it and we will definitely be back but maybe only on special occasions. Would highly recommend and the views are amazing.
