“Enjoyable stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

My wife and I have just arrived home after staying in this hotel. It's a great place to stay, you are made very welcome and the staff really look after you very well.
We dined in the Catalina Restaurant which was a terrific experience, not only was the food good it was presented in an outstanding way.
If you want to spoil your self and be well looked after this is the place for you.

Room Tip: A lake view is the best.

On arrival the staff were very attentive and helped us check in. When we got to our room we sat out on the balcony and the sun sparkled on the lough, it was beautiful. The bedroom was lovely and the roll top bath is fantastic. We had a nice walk around the grounds and then dined in the Catalina Restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was excellent, it was not cheap but it was outstanding flavours. There are two other places to eat on the resort so you can get a cheaper menu if you require. I used the spa and though the swimming pool is not massive it is immaculate both in decoration and cleanliness. We enjoyed the whole experience and wished we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Have a lakeside view

The greeting on arrival was poor, the porter said we might find an umbrella inside and then left us standing in the rain .

We requested the room turn down service but all we received was the bed sheets pulled back, towels left on the floor, toiletries not replaced and a small chocolate thrown on the bedside cabinet.

The spa can only be accessed by walking outside and during our stay this meant walking in the rain . The steam rooms were not working, the showers were cold and the relaxation area was grubby.

Apart from the above the staff were very friendly, the dining experience was good and we had a very enjoyable stay but this is definitely not a 5* hotel.

Dear travellers Dublin,
I was disappointed to read your recent review of your stay and some of the issues particularly when you remarked on 'the friendliness of the staff, the good dining experience and the enjoyable stay you had'.
I can only suggest that the fresh towels put in your room for turn down service fell from the towel rail onto the floor as they would not have been placed there by housekeeping staff.
Unfortunately if you are staying in our Loughside Lodges the Spa can only be accessed from the outside. It was unfortunate that annual maintenance was being carried out in the steam room during your visit and I would be grateful if you would contact me prior to your next visit and I will endeavour to enhance your stay in some way.Kind regards JOHN

stayed here a couple of weeks ago for the weekend, hotel is gorgeous, food was amazing, staff are super friendly and the lough itself was just breathtaking. We were lucky to stay the weekend Ireland won the 6 nations and the atmosphere was fantastic. Highly recommend for a relaxing break away although if your looking for music and a loud busy atmosphere this isnt the place for you!

After a reservation with a nearby hotel fell through, I rang Lough Erne a week before my holidays to see if they had any capacity for the mid term week. Grace was very accommodating and organised a night stay with B&B, dinner and afternoon tea.
The day before we were due to stay, we rang on the chance that we could also have a room for that night. They booked a second night B&B for us. On arrival we requested that our afternoon tea was brought forwards to the first day. Matthew at reception explained that they were fully booked but that he would see what could be arranged. He spoke with Nuala who arranges the afternoon tea and we were delighted that they could accommodate us. Nuala was lovely.
After afternoon tea, our room was ready and our luggage was waiting for us in the room. Room was perfect - we had booked a courtyard view and were delighted to find that we had been put into a lake view room.
As it was paddys day, we also received little paddys day themed treats in our room :)
We had dinner in the Blarney bar the first night - food was lovely. Drink could be expensive but about £5.50 for a glass of wine and about £4 for a pint. After dinner we sat in front of one of two fireplaces for a few drinks.
The next day we booked in for facials and manicures - if you want a full treatment you would need to book this before your stay as they were quite busy. Amanda was great craic and full of chat. made it very relaxing.
dinner in the catalina restaurant was lovely. Complementary smoothie to start and followed this with crap salad, pigeon and a pear cake. The chef did the rounds to make sure we were all happy with it which was a lovely touch.
Breakfast was spot on too.
Only negatives with the whole stay was the temperatures in the room. Even in mid march, the rooms were very warm. We slept with all windows open.
Also the single beds are quite narrow.
Overall the stay was very relaxing. The staff were all lovely, especially the bar staff. Chris in particular was always on hand to help.
Would love to return.

Room Tip: Lake view would be worth it

Our Paddy's Day Treats' were very popular with the guests and glad you enjoyed them.Nuala does a wonderful job on afternoon Tea and it's great that we were able to accommodate you. It's always advisable to book in advance.Noel Mc Meel loves chatting the guests after Dinner in the Catalina Restaurant and it does add to the whole experience. You are more than welcome for the upgrade to a Lakeview Room and we look forward to your next visit for further relaxation.

We stayed in one of the the loughside lodge suite for a family wedding . These have 2 very luxurious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with roll top baths and showers and a living area with full kitchen. The furnishing were sumptuous and the whole resort was beautiful. We has a great view and from the comfort of our room we were able to watch the wedding party having their photographs taken down by the lough. Staff on reception were professional but could have been a bit more proactive as we had to ask for directions to the lodge as it's a few minutes away from the main hotel. Also they did not advise us how to access wi- fi. Minor points but not what you would expect in a five star hotel. Breakfast was served in the golf house and was plentiful and very tasty. It would have been nice to have been allowed to have breakfast in the main hotel with other family members who were staying in the hotel rooms. The wedding banquet was one of the best we have had and the dining room opened out into a lovely patio area. The lodges are expensive but nice to treat yourself for a special occasion.

Dear Larrytours,
There is no doubt that the Loughside Lodges are ideal for families attending Weddings or indeed just a leisure break.Self-catering villas are now also available on site to provide another option for groups.Breakfast is offered in our Loughside Suite at weekends to ensure there are no long queues in either venue.Thank you for taking time to post your review.

Stayed here for a wedding otherwise would never stay somewhere as pricey but there attention to detail and service was brilliant. Guests were well looked after whilst the happy couple were whisked off for photos and the service in the reception was brilliant. Check in was easy and the rooms are huge. The roll-top bath and separate shower are to die for. Breakfast was really very good and service again efficient. Also had free use of the pool / gym, can't speak for the gym but the pool and jacuzzi are excellent.
