“UK's tribute to JFK”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

This is one of the memorials in Runnymede. The memorial itself isn't much to write home about but the walk is nice

“Fitting tribute”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

I found this memorial a fitting tribute to the assassinated President and the reason for choosing this spot for it were well explained.

“Bit of a Climb”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

Pleased we visited. No good if you have a wheelchair. It is a big slab at the top of a granite walk with steps (one for each state) which get slippery when wet

“Do you want to go to the USA?”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

You can go to American land without leaving the UK & spending a fortune. The J F Kennedy Memorial is on two acres of land given to the USA to place a memorial to the late President. A bit of a trek from near the River Thames across some fields located in Runnymede Meadow and up some steep steps to reach the memorial. Beautiful views from there and while you are there go to the next field the access the Magna Carta Monument.

“Wonderfully eccentric memorial!”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

This place is one of those wonderful quirks of history, politics and geography and really is a must see. The monument is moving and replete with symbolism and it is wonderful to be a pilgrim to the USA for an hour or two. Those who have interests in JFK, or politics or history generally should make time to visit. The setting is tranquil and you could make a quick stop to say you have been or take a longer stroll to contemplate the world.

The considerations are, young children are likely to find it boring. There is really no access for people with mobility issues, pushchairs etc. The assent is steep, so that should be considered too. Toilets and refreshments are a little distance off. It is an outside attraction, so very weather dependant.

It is an understated place, not all whizz bang, if that’s how you like your history then probably not for you.
