“Worthy as a pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2014

Personally this pub appealed to me as it was never over populated and was therefore comfortable to pop into when travelling from A to B even if it meant going out of my way. The extensive pub garden was also very comfortable. I will have to re-evaluate it as a restaurant when it re-opens.

“Many better places to eat nearby”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

I've been here several times. Unfortunately, although it's OK for drinks (an average selection) the menu is very disappointing. It is small, and largely consists of burgers in different guises. I actually enjoy burgers, but somehow they manage to make them bland and unappealing. It's not a big surprise that this place is so empty.

If you want to sit outside, the decked garden is pretty good - comfortable and peaceful. It's surrounded by walls so you can't see much, which is good because there's nothing to see.

Just don't expect much from the food.

“Emptiness Is Off-Putting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 January 2014

Lovely looking place, fabulous outside area. Good range of drinks. Very nice food. So why is it so empty when you have the Crown just up the road which is normally heaving with people? I'm guessing it's because 1. A lot of people don't know what it's called as the Font on the sign makes it very difficult to read. The place is lacking atmosphere, you aren't really given a warm welcome but thats not to say anyones really unfriendly either. It's quite odd. Also it seems to be catering for a certain clientelle ... the office crowd maybe? Thats fine at lunchtime but other people need to feel it's a welcoming place for them too. You look through the windows and sometimes have to check if it is actually open as I hardly ever see anyone. They've obviously worked very hard on the decor and outside area. It just needs some publicity and for people to know what it is and what it's called!
