“Not the best but ......”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

Stayed there last Saturday night (30.08.14). Allocated to room 11 by a friendly lady behind the bar. The steps up to the 1st floor were very steep & I would certainly advise elderly not to think about booking to stay here.
Our room was like a sauna with the radiator & towel heater on full blast. The window open half way but it was not long before it shut itself again. Managed to turn the radiator off but no switch for the towel heater. The carpet was well worn, wrinkled & plenty of stains on it. The walls had many marks & stains & the skirting boards were dirty & the dust on top of the TV & Chest of draws was fairly thick. The double bed was quite comfortable but the pillows were "Empty" of feathers or foam. Hairs in the bath, dirty taps & no bath mat on a lino floor was not what I expected to see. No handle to help stepping out of the bath is unacceptable as lino can be very slippery. Shower head was filthy.
Breakfast was very nice & the lady who served was most friendly with a good SOH. However, the public toilets adjacent to the breakfast room were certainly not up to standard. The skirting boards were off the wall, the toilet roll was on the floor (No hanger) & the cubical door had to be held shut while trying to do your business. Urgent need of refurbishment I say. If H & s read this I wouldn't be surprised if the place is closed down. Enjoy your visit .......

Room Tip: Ground floor in the outside Barn.

Arrived East Dereham around 8.30pm on a Friday needing some food and a friend had recommended trying the Kings Head, so this review is NOT about staying at the hotel. Well, sorry to upset anyone but a pub with a restaurant on a Friday night should be fairly busy I would have thought.......? Apparently not. In this instance, as I say, at 8.30pm, the better half and I were informed, "No menu, we've already stopped serving food for the evening." As we had already bought a drink before enquiring about the food, we drank up and left. And we won't be going back.

We had booked somewhere else but when got there was so bad that we left and then found the Kings head down the road, was made to feel very welcome and our room was warm and clean, the bedding was very clean and bed very comfortable, decor a little tired but from speaking to the new owner he is aware of this and will be re-decorating in the near future, Breakfast was lovely and we had one evening meal which was well cooked.

Came to stay with my sister, arrived at the hotel to be greeted in a friendly but unprofessional manner. Led to our rooms which were horrible in the out building next to the car park. They had done a good job of cleaning them, but everything seemed old and manky... the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner though. Toilet flusher didn't work properly..

The door had was thin and had a measly little lock on it, so didn't feel safe sleeping there. There were quite a few bugs in the room too. Because the door was so thin you could hear everything going on in the entrance to the block of rooms so when neighbors were coming in late at night it sounded as if they were basically in the room with you!

Breakfast was better, the lady who served us was sweet but seemed a bit rushed/panicky.. the food was average, nothing special/impressive.

All in all, it's cheap but it's cheap for a reason. If you want to feel safe and comfortable - go somewhere else.

This accom was booked by work for a 5 day course. It is an old building, so don't expect all glass and chrome. The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We had intended to eat here on the first night and then try different eateries of Dereham, however the food was fantastic and very good value, and we ended up eating here every night! The breakfasts were lovely, and plenty. Don't let your first impression put you off. I would definitely stay here again.

Booked the Kings Head Hotel simply for it's good location for my work the following day. I am not a picky person who examines every nook and cranny so I found the Kings Head as a good pub with rooms, ample car parking, friendly check-in service, room was fine with comfortable bed, old style tv with freeview box, usual frills and clean bathroom. Room overlooked town center and road so some noise but didn't bother me after I shut the window. Didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food but expect good pub grub and drinks. Breakfast started at 7.30am which was too late for me as I needed to leave at around 7am although this was not a major problem. Would have no issues with using this hotel again.

Wouldn't have stayed here out of choice(after seeing the reviews)but it was booked for us as close to the memorial hall where we were going that night. Very shabby room, floor length mirror but leaning on the floor?only one cup so had to get another one, forgot shampoo but thought no problem there will be some mini bottles/sachets but no. One towel! Obviously set up for single occupancy but priced for two. Then came back at 1pm to find this almighty row right outside our room to discover a nightclub next door which procceded to enimate noise still at 4 o'clock in the morning and doubled with being right on the road as well, not a great experience! Breakfast passable but cheap bacon and sausages so filled up on coffee and toast. Refused to pay the full asking price of 70 pounds as it just wasn't viable. Would not recommend!! pictures on website were not of the room we stayed in!.

Room Tip: Room 12 was seen and completely different and beautifully done out, strangley the same price?! And i...
