“Lovely Apartment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014

Stayed here for one night in May. Excellent price for 2 people. Stayed in Orchard cottage which is a one bed room apartment akin to a starter home. Was great to be able to have a full kitchen to use and also lots space to ourselves. Clean and tidy. Think the £6 per person for breakfast in the main house is good value and the food was freshly cooked once we turned up. Owner Steve was friendly and welcoming as is his dog Max.
It is on a one way street so you do have to find the right end to go down. Although there were other guests staying we did not hear any noise.
Some folks have commented about the decor but we had no problems, ok it may not be state of the art ultra modern but it was clean, tidy and and well kept and I have been in hotels that are more expensive but worse kept.

Shared bathroom wasn't clean. Got a strange feeling from this place. If you are a light sleeper, this place may not be for you. Single glazing, and road near front of house. Owner stayed up late one night making a bit of noise with friend, taking dog out etc. But didn't charge me that night which was the correct thing to do and very much appreciated. In general, I prefer more professionalism when staying in paid-for accommodation. Fairly friendly owner. Style of set-up just wasn't my cup of tea. No on-suite toilet a deal-breaker, especially if shared one isn't kept clean.

Me and three colleagues stayed at Glendower House for one night in February 2014; two in the House and two in the annex round the corner of the main building. The two rooms in the house were both very spacious, nicely decorated and very nice - with large, comfortable beds and pillows. Unfrotunately there are no en-suites as the hous is very old, but the shared bathroom is large, spacious, clean and nicely decorated with a quality shower and bath.

My two colleagues who stayed in the Annex, however, weren't quite as keen. The quite pokey seperate bedroom only has a small sky light window which doesn't let in much natural light, and neither single bed was particularly comfortable. The double bed in the lounge/dining area was a little better, but the whole space wasn't particularly welcoming. Though you do have access to a private washing machine, mcirowave and cooking facilities, so can be rather self-sufficient - which is a plus point.

The service was prompt and friendly, and the owners very welcoming (especially the dog!)

In term of food - we unfortunately had to leave before breakfast. For dinner the night before though, we went to a beautiful Thai Resturant - aptly named 'Thai Thai' - where we had a delicious meal that each would highly recommend. Another plus point is it being within easy walking distance!

room and warm welcome from Steve, breakfast good, only downside was no toilet or shower in room, although shower / bath on ground and upper floor. Would recommend for short stay, very close to town centre.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2013

I stayed at the Glendower last week when visiting friends in Norfolk. I received an email from Steve (the owner) prior to my visit confirming the details. Upon arrival Steve was very welcoming me and was aware of who I was. It was a very pleasant greeting.
The hotel itself was decorated nicely and had a really homely feel to it. I had a big room and was very comfortable in it. It was, in fact, a family room with bunkbeds included...and many toys and games for the children too. On top of that was a wide selection of books for children and adults alike. I felt this was a great touch for any family that may potentially be staying here.

During the night the room was comfortable and quiet. The slight downside was that it was a shared bathroom (but I was aware of this at the time of booking) and the bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. It was also kept very clean and tidy, with plenty guest towels.

Breakfast the next morning was cooked to choice by Steve, so was hot and fresh...complimenting the continental options in the breakfast room.

It was a brief stay but a very enjoyable one. I would happily stay there again.
