“Beautiful forest area with so much to see and do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

We were only there for a long wekend but have already decided to go back to sample more of the offerings of this area. There are so many walks, cycle trails and things for people of all ages to do. For instance, checkout my reviews of Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves.

“An Unique area of natural beuty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

The Forest of Dean area is criss crossed with paths and bridle trails and you can easily spend hours and hours "away from the maddening crowd". There are countless villages like, Coleford, Drybrook, Cinderford, Lydney, and Bream, that have good shops, pubs and restaurants. The Wye river travels from Monmouth down to Chepstow, and is an ideal place to fish for salmon if you are able to get the required permission. At Chepstow you have the Castle, and Speech House is situated in the centre, close to Drybrook. There are also a couple of adventure centres where you can go canoeing, rock climbing, caving, and hiking. Many people that live in this rather quaint area have their own way of speaking , and you will often hear people asking "all right Butt?" (Butt being friend) or saying to someone else " her said ide be OK" (her meaning man or woman). The Winter can also be a good time to visit, as many of the tree's are shedding their leaves, and it is also not an uncommon site to see snow on the higher ground.

“So much to do.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

We stayed for a long weekend but we didn't have chance to do everything we wanted. I would recommend you stay for at least a week . The wild life is wonderful, a great place to get back to nature.

“A nice walk in the park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2012

There is something for evryone here. One of the best Go Apes in the country. Easy walking for the less active. Alkways gives you a good feeling being in amongst the trees. Try Puzzle Wood for a different view. best on a sunny day after rain
