Owner description: You'll never be at a loss for something to see and do in the Forest of Dean. With the natural environment, fascinating history and heritage, an array of attractions and activities you can feed your minds and tire your bodies, but will there be enough time to fit it all into one holiday? - Forest of Dean & Wye Valley Tourism Association.

I'm pretty biased as I lived here for the first 17 years of my life. Therefore I can call myself a 'forrester'. Everytime I come and visit friends and family, I am struck by the sheer vastness and beauty this place holds. No matter what time of year you visit, the views, activities and friendliness of the locals will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If you're active there is plenty to do, for example having a ride on one of the mountain bike trails or taking one of the many rambling trails. If you are into the arts, well there is plenty of creativity here and places you can sit, admire the view and write; draw; paint etc. Families are well catered for with an array of festivals, events, camping, glamping, adventure sports etc.

You can truely get away from all the stresses, hussle and bustle of everyday life. Beware though "Old Butt", once you visit, you may never want to leave!!

I've been coming here for over 35 years now, and i still love to just get off the road and walk. I may have been to a lot of places in the forest over the years, but there are always new ones to find. The Forestry Commission are making walks and picnic areas over a lot of the Forest, but it doesn't seem to have impacted too much, you can always find a quite spot to just sit and think, whilst taking in some splendid views. When the world and work are getting too much this is somewhere that brings you back down to earth, and the best of all, there's no entry fee!

We had a wonderful holiday in the Forest of Dean, enjoyed walks around Tintern Abbey and Symonds Yat, good pub food at places around the forest and bike rides on the old railway line and the tracks around Whitemead forest park

We are so lucky to have this place so close to where we live, and yet we have not made proper use of it. There are lots of local attractions, but even without these being close to nature is very special. We will be back soon for a picnic, and must make sure that we get here more regularly going forward.

Been coming here for a few years and still have so much to do. The walks and bike rides possible here are amazing and can last for days! There are many paid things that you can do but there is also many free or cheaper things avaliable.

So much wildlife is around but best times are dawn and dusk. On one walk we saw many different birds, a mouse , a family of badgers , 3 deer and a heard of Boar.

We love coming here and will continue for years to come.
