“A very relaxing Spa afternoon”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

A stunning venue with friendly and helpful staff.

All three of us had facials, which set us up for our relaxation afternoon; they were fantastic. The lights were dimmed and the pampering began, 40 minutes of heaven.

The facilities were good, although the swimming pool was very cold.

After our time in the Spa, we headed for our afternoon tea. With views over the water and being beautifully decorated, a serene ambience was created. The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful, with a wide selection of cakes, scones and sandwiches. We left feeling content, relaxed and happy so the afternoon served its purpose.

The only flaw is the tiny changing rooms which were incredibly packed, hot and stuffy. But a small hitch for a lovely experience.

I recently arranged a surprise birthday afternoon tea for my mum and her family and close friends. I cannot thank Christchurch Harbour Hotel enough for everything they did to ensure that this was an enormous success. Right from the beginning when this was merely an idea, everyone I have dealt with in the hotel went over and above their call of duty to ensure that the event went smoothly and was enjoyed by all. Amber was fantastic from the beginning in helping me to plan the event and I owe her an enormous thank you. On the day, Chris the banqueting manager ensured everything went to plan, meeting my parents in the car park and showing them to a table, next to the function room where we were all behind the door, waiting to sing Happy Birthday. The staff on the day were amazing and James looked after us all during the afternoon.
My whole experience with CHH has been a positive one. I shall certainly be revisiting and recommending this hotel to everyone. The perfect setting, exceptional staff and excellent value for money. My parents were thrilled with their surprise and the memories of that day will stay with them for a very long time so THANK YOU so much.

Room Tip: On this occasion, we did not stay in the hotel overnight.

My husband and I stayed for one night in a standard double room, we were greeted so professionally by Marta, this lady is the benchmark of how customer service should be, she was incredible, every need catered for and an incredible manner, nothing was too much trouble and we immediately felt in capable hands, our room was lovely as a standard double with beautiful fixtures and fittings however the outlook wasn't great on to a red skip which was a touch disappointing and workmen constantly walking past so we had to keep the curtains drawn, however this didn't spoil our visit, the spa was lovely and we stayed for two hours thought the space could have been better utilized it became quite busy and nowhere to sit and no one used the big round seat at all, breakfast was beautiful and although the breakfast area was packed it was well managed and we didn't have to wait long. We would definitely recommend to stay at this hotel.

I have just come away from a 2 day break from this hotel and it was probably the 2 best days I have ever had!
The service in the restaurant is amazing and can only say it was the best service I have ever received. Being a really fussy eater was no problem at all for them and the waiter tended to our every needs. I cannot fault the food - so hats off to the chef. The atmosphere was fantastic. There was someone playing guitar and singing. It was a fantastic experience - so please pass on my thanks to every one in the restaurant and kitchen who made the whole stay fantastic for me.
The only thing I have to criticize is the size of our room - it was tiny! But the bed was so comfortable and the dressing gowns were amazing!
The spa was nice, but not as enjoyable as I was hoping it to be. There was no room for us to sit by the pool as it was all taken up by other peoples belongings (towels, dressing gowns and slippers). We visited the spa 3 times and we never got to relax by the pool which was a bit of a disappointment. But the pool was lovely and warm and the sauna and steam room was lovely.
The service on reception needs to be improved - we felt like the check in was rushed, we didn't get told where any thing was or what times breakfast were. We had to ask if we could book in for dinner as it wasn't offered. Also help with luggage wasn't offered - which was difficult as we struggled! Check out was horrendous and the lady was rude and I felt it really let the hotel down.
Apart from that, thank you so much for a fantastic stay. Will hopefully try to come back and visit!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

My husband and I took his mother for a 3 night break. At 86 she appreciates good service and comfort and we had plenty of both. The rooms were lovely, staff friendly but professional, and the food very good. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: A sea room of course

From the beginning we knew we wanted our wedding to take place at the Christchurch Harbour hotel and spa.
We are local and knew we wanted this hotel because of its location and views over Christchurch harbour. Also We had stayed here a couple of years ago, taking advantage of one of their fantastic spa mini break offers (highly recommended also!). From that moment we knew this hotel was for us.
During a wedding exhibition at the hotel we met Cyan the weddings and events manager (now working at their sister hotel the Kings Arms Christchurch).
Cyan was fantastic, it's clear that she is passionate about her job and was happy to answer all our questions. Running through some of the wedding packages we were quickly able to decide on a budget and time of year to suit us and we booked our wedding there and then.
During the run up to the wedding Cyan and her colleagues kept us up to date with frequent emails and meetings. Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel and we were always made to feel welcome.
I cannot stress how good the wedding/events team are at the Harbour hotel.
On the big day Chris and his team looked after us, they were absolutely amazing.
Chris really did make the day run so very smoothly, he just made it all happen and certainly works hard, putting in some very long hours indeed.
Our guests had a great time and a few commented on how the day felt relaxed and flowed well.
They were impressed by the hotel and staff also and I understand a few of our guests plan to come back and stay at the hotel in the future and enjoy the spa and Kayaks that you can also hire.
The wedding breakfast and evening buffet were wonderful, the food at the Hotel is fantastic.
Indeed the wedding breakfast service was very smooth, flowing along at just the right pace, the wine glasses were refilled without us even noticing. The team a clearly very well polished and very attentive to detail. Our tables were very well presented and laid out just as we wanted them to be, in fact everything looked better than we imagined.
The hotel even set aside a room for our breakfast the morning after our wedding for all of our guests that stayed, that was a really nice touch too.
We would recommend the Christchurch harbour hotel for anyone thinking of getting married here.
It's in a stunning location. The staff are fantastic, the food excellent and the rooms are very nice too. We had booked room 218 which has a balcony and views over the harbour and Hengistbury head, a very nice room indeed. The spa is fantastic, highly recommended and treat yourself to a massage while you are there.
Thank you all at the Harbour hotel for making our wedding such a special day and our guests really enjoyed themselves too.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good from what we've seen and heard of from our wedding guests. However if yo...

Just returned from a two night stay on a great rate booked directly with the hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, without being formal or stuffy. We had a lovely room (117) which was a really good size with a living area and the ipod docking station was a nice touch. Lovely dressing gowns and all very clean. If I was going to be really picky the bathroom was on the small size although it was very nice and a good powerful shower. We ate in the Upper Deck on the Friday night and the The Jetty on the Saturday night, both were excellent, the bar staff were great and I can recommend the Mojitos. We used the hotel kayaks which was good fun, and again the member of staff that helped us with gave excellent service. The spa is lovely, although I didn't have a treatment, the spa was revitalising enough. We will definitely return to this hotel and can't recommend it enough.
