We booked on a whim, for a last minute getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary and birthday, I only mentioned on booking our reasons for staying and were delighted to find a hand written card waiting in our room wishing us a lovely stay and anniversary etc.

Upon dinning in the restaurant, once again we were wished a happy anniversary and presented with a glass of prosecco.

It is this attention to detail, and the personable staff that make this hotel an absolute gem.

We will definitely be returning

We visited the Kings Arms for Sunday Lunch and have nothing but praise for the food and service. For our starters we had the smoked fish salad and hock salad which were very good. For our main courses my wife had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding while I had roast pork with crackling. Our dinners were served with roast potatoes and vegetables. You can pay extra for additional items such as cauliflower cheese. I would have liked to try this but thought I would probably have enough with the regular vegetables and in any case wanted to have room for dessert. Everything we had was nicely cooked and we were particularly pleased that nether the beef or vegetables were overdone. For dessert I had the upside down chocolate brownie cheesecake which was really light, delicious and went down very easily. To accompany our meals we had a house red wine which although not cheap was in terms of price about par for the course for this standard of restaurant and was really very good. The staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. To sum up, we really enjoyed our visit to the Kings Arms and would like to return, maybe to stay there next time.

Ive tried different hotels in this area but will keep returning to this one. Very good value for money.

Room Tip: Beautiful view of the priory from the front bedrooms. Kings rooms courtyard view have air con.

I've been to the Kings Arms quite a few times now and have eaten both Sunday lunch and evening meals there with friends and family. To this day I have not been disappointed and would recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I recently tried the 15 Mile Menu and as expected it was very good. The cream of butternut squash soup was tasty and the slow braised short beef ribs were delicious, succulent and tender with the parsnip and apple mash a perfect accompaniment.

The staff have always been welcoming and professional - as you'd expect - and the dining experience is relaxing and informal.

Good food and service, with the price being an added bonus.
