We booked last minute and my husband found the female prop rude over the phone so he was really worried and apologetic before we got there, to me, as he had found the place. We needed somewhere that was dog friendly and to accommodate a 2 year old as well. The place is cheap at £30 pppn and £10 extra pn for child, nothing extra for the dog. But.. The room, though fairly spacious was really very dated with lots of frills. It had tea and coffee and the shower room was like a slice of the wall that had been taken to create the minimum sized en suite. None of this is a major problem for the price. When it came to actually sleeping on the beds though we came across a major stumbling block. The covers were made up of blankets, the viscose kind, so we found ourselves itchy and hot straight away. The mattresses were sooo uncomfortable, they sank in the middle and you could feel the lines of springs through them, our feet were off the ends and the pillows actually smelled like they hadnt seen the light of day for a good airing for years (probably hadnt). It is worth mentioning that when we arrived the prop (male) moved his car to give us a space which was very kind of him and the prop (female) was friendly and didnt live up to her telephone persona face to face.
We realised after an hour and a half of not being able to get even slightly comfortable that we would end up so tired for our planned day out with family the next day that we would probably end up ruining it for them and not being able to enjoy it as we would be exhausted so we made the decision to return home to North Bucks at midnight and did so. We paid for a night minus the child and walked.
We would definitely not recommend this guest house to anyone except those people who really can sleep anywhere. It is close to the beach and shops so location is good.
We were also asked whether we would be having cereal or full english, although we havent stuck around to eat it, it sounded like we wouldnt have the option to have a bit of everything which is the british b&b trademark... Cant say if this is the case but we were given that impression.
