This is a wonderful church, fantastic stonework and an interesting interior. The guides are very helpful and supply you with a leaflet which explains the history of the building.

If you're in Christchurch I recommend going to see the church. I'm not religious but it is a beautiful church & I can appreciate the history of it.

This is without doubt an amazing "building". It's actually the largest Parish Church in the Country and has a fascinating History. At the time of the dissolution of the Monastries by Henry V111 the building was scheduled to be pulled down!!! Fortunately a deal was done and it now exists due to it becoming the Parish Church. It is also self supporting. It has regular lunch-time free Organ recitals (with a retiring collection) on a Thursday - although it has close seasons during major religious events e.g. Christmas. Check the site for specific dates. The Organ itself is really impressive. Lunches and light refreshments are available in the Café at a reasonable cost. The Priory host lots of special events e.g. Messiah by the Bournemouth Bach Choir on the 9th Dec and an Evening Concert in aid of Wessex Autism on the 16th Dec. The Organ Recital is often performed by a Visiting Organist of the highest quality. I personally find old Churches and Priory's fascinating and it is rewarding that the Priory after so many centuries continues to play such a significant part in the affairs of the Christchurch Community.

I left my car in Bank Street and it was about a ten minute walk from there. When I went in, I was given a leaflet on the history of it but I bought a guide book as well. As I went round, I saw some people drawing different parts of it. The sun shined, which made the stained glass look beautiful. I would recommend this place, if you like the history of churches.

This is a must visit attraction when you're in Christchurch or the surrounding area. The church was originally part of the monastery that was built in 1086, although there was a place of worship on the site since the 7th century. It is steeped in history but is probably most famous for the Miraculous Beam - which can be seen high up in an archway of the triforium on the south side of the Lady Chapel ambulatory. This is the main reason the town changed its name from Twynham to Christchurch. You can also climb the tower to get great views of the countryside. You won't regret taking some time out to visit here.
