We were attending a celebratory Sunday Lunch with a group of 20 and had decided in advance to stay overnight. Our first impressions on arrival were extremely favorable. We entered initially through the restaurant and then on to reception. This gave us a good foretaste of what was in store. We were conducted to our room by the receptionist and found it to be spacious, beautifully designed and oufitted with the bathroom also more than adequately sized, All this, combined with the fact that our room was to the back of the hotel, meant that we had an extremely quiet and comfortable night. Lunch was a great experience with a wide choice. The service, even for such a large group, was to a high standard. Breakfast in the morning was a delight and of high quality. If we ever need a room in this area again this will be our first choice.

i know the Bute of old and last Friday took my staff there for our Christmas meal out. Menu was well thought out and to able to choose on the night rather than weeks in advance is so civilised! Chris' attentiveness in the dining room is exceptional, the food that Kevin and his team is well cooked, just the right amount and is served on hot plates which is a rarity! cannot finish a review without mentioning the delicious desserts that Laura produces - no pannecotta this time but the white chocolate mousse was sublime. Paul's saxophone playing is the perfect accompaniment to a relaxed meal.

My husband and me and just returned from our fifth stay at The Lord Bute Hotel and as always we can't fault anything. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is very good, we ate in the restaurant one night and the set menu for £21 for three courses is very good value and delicious. We take advantage of the three nights for the price of two which is very good and always stay in one of the large en-suite rooms which are very comfortable. We really look forward to staying at the hotel and coming down to Dorset and visit all of the lovely places not too far away, It's a very nice break just before the christmas madness sets in!!

Room Tip: The rooms at the rear of the hotel are quieter away from the road

We stayed in the Garden Suite for 4 nights in July and had a wonderful time. All the positive reviews about this hotel are true. The staff are amazing very friendly & very professional, particularly Louisa, who was wonderful..nothing was too much trouble and she was full of useful info about places to visit. The suite was lovely and cannot be faulted, especially the stunning bathroom. We had a great meal and a memorable evening at the Jazz Night. The restaurant was full,(mostly with local people who obviously know how great this place. We will definately stay here again as soon as we can.

Room Tip: The Garden Suite is beautiful.

Our children treated us to a three night stay in the Garden Suite to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary at the end of October. The suite consisted of a large lounge, beautiful bedroom with a large comfortable bed, dressing area with loads of wardrobes and an enormous bathroom with double sink, large walk-in shower, huge bath, a t.v. in the wall (which we didn't know how to use) and toilet, all tastefully decorated. There were two three seater sofas, coffee table, side table, fireplace with a gas fire, and a huge flat screen t.v. with dvd and a music system in the lounge. The bedroom was lovely with doors leading out to the garden area, tea and coffee tray and another t.v. There was none of this buffet style breakfast. We were seated and our orders taken and brought to us by warm and attentive staff. Everything was well presented and the cooked breakfast was cooked to order and pipping hot. Dinner was a real treat, the restaurant had a great ambience and every Wednesday night they have a Jazz evening. The food was excellent and very well presented. Can't praise the staff enough, friendly, pleasant and attentive. A great place to stay for a special occasion.

We stayed in the Garden Suite for two nights at the beginning of October. From the moment we arrived, the staff could not have been more welcoming. After a quick check-in, we were shown to our suite. It was beautiful. A small, glass-doored hallway led to a large lounge, bathed in sunlight from the wall of patio windows. The lounge had two quality sofas, a remote control gas fire, flat screen tv, dvd and music system, etc.

The bedroom was tastefully furnished, with patio doors leading to the garden. There was plenty of choice with the complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate tray. The bedroom was separated from the bathroom by a huge dressing room, with wall to wall wardrobes. The bathroom was one of the largest I have seen, with a separate shower. All windows in the suite had plantation shutters.

The private garden was a delight. There was a large decked area, leading to a well-stocked garden, with a mix of shrubs and tropical plants. There was a lovely water feature (which looked rather like a hot tub!).

Our full English breakfast was great (the plates were hot!), and nicely presented. On the first morning, I chose fresh fruit with yoghurt, which was beautifully presented.

The staff were warm and attentive at all times. We really felt like we had been spoiled and made to feel very special. Thank you, Lord Bute, for a wonderful stay.
