The caravan park is very clean and tidy with pretty flowers. We are a family with 2 children age 2 and 4. The girls loved the play area and the indoor swimming pool. They also really enjoyed seeing sammy seahorse and larry the lobster in the evenings. My 2 year old was copying all the moves to the dances and even a month on still remembers some of the words to the 'sammy wiggle' and 'bye bye sammy' songs. The park is a 15 minute walk through residential houses to the beach.
We visited loads of great places suitable for the girls which meant they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. If you go crabbing at mudeford quay, the best time is at high tide. We went twice, the first time it was low tide and we caught nothing but the second time was an hour after high tide and we caught loads. It's only a 5 minute drive away.
Now for the reason I only gave 4 stars and it's not hoburnes fault. The caravan we hired was r92. The owners have there own website called luxury hoburne holidays. This is what we expected. We booked the caravan 2 nights before going and they still tried to charge us the full price of £500 for the week. I managed to get them down to £450 but we still had to get the club passes on top of this. We were expecting high standards for the price. The outside had nice decking with a patio table and four chairs. I noticed it was one of the only caravans that had no shed to store extras in like a bbq for example which nearly every private caravan I looked at supplied. This was disappointing. We walked in and the first thing we did was clean. It was disgusting. Thick dust everywhere, grease all over the cooker. Chocolate buttons under the bed side table, dog hairs in the beds( they did smell clean so I'm assuming the owners had a dog, good job were not allergic though!). The dust and dirt that had collected along the corners of the laminate floors was thick and the crevices of the shower were orange with black mould that came out with a bit of shower pressure. The fridge was filthy. The kettle was a £6 tesco value with no filter and it leaked when pouring. A lot of caravans leave a welcome pack with bread and milk to get you started, nothing like that. It was all a shame because with a little care this could have been a lovely 3 bed caravan.
So I would return to hoburne park but I would definitely not book with the owners of r92 again.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- A luxury caravan park in Christchurch set on manicured lawns, welcoming entertainment complex for all the food, drink and fun you demand, and pools, fitness room and tennis court for a spot of healthy exercise - Hoburne Park has everything. But there's no need to overdo it - this is a perfect, peaceful place to just relax with a good book. A short drive brings you to the stunning beaches and bustle of Bournemouth, but many locals prefer the smaller, quieter, more friendly beaches of Friars Cliff and Avon Beach, just 10 minutes walk from the Park. A few minutes further on is Mudeford Quay, a favourite place for local, fresh fish and seafood, a few hours crabbing, or just watching the boats go by. This is also one of the few places nearby where you can sit outside a charming pub and watch the sun go down over the water - blissful! Add in the New Forest a mile or two away, and historic Christchurch to be explored, and it's no wonder people come back to Hoburne Park again and again. ... more less
