“Great location, bit pricey, staff offhand”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

Lovely location. I enjoyed a decent cup of tea and a toasted teacake one afternoon. Good choice of cakes and teas. Staff seemed disinterested; which was a pity. Not cheap.

“very ordindary food with extraordinary price”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

I love highcliffe and this little place is in a lovely setting just a few steps away from a coastal path which you can take all the way to mudeford and anyone can walk it no matter how unfit!! Problem is that for me £5.25 for a tuna or ham baguette is just a disgrace. The filter coffee is served up with one of those little plastic packs of long life cream and is the sort of price you pay for a lovely cappuccino in most other places. If you don't mind paying this kind of money for a very mediocre sandwich then fine but if like me to expect something better then walk down to the sea and eat at one of those outlets - there is a lot of choice there from a seafood linguine to fish and chips.

“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Lovely setting in the Castle Tearooms and beautiful grounds. Big selection of delicious cakes and various drinks. The food is expensive but of good quality. Rather slow service but staff were pleasant and willing to carry our tray.
Not sure what is on the lunch menu but intend to return sometime to find out. The car park is quite large but have been told it becomes full on busy days.

“Lunch”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

We were meeting friends here for lunch as they had chosen the castle for their wedding venue and they wanted to show us what a lovely place they had picked for their special day.

Because we were visiting out of season the parking was free and there is a large car park.

We ordered coffee and at £2.25 this is reasonable when compared to some chain coffee shops.

We had lasagne for lunch which came with salad and whilst it was very nice the portion was small for the price at £7.95.

There were some lovely cakes on offer but again I thought these were pricey.

It is a very nice venue with beautiful gardens and you can walk down to the sea.

The tearoom has loads of seating both inside and out, the staff are friendly, the place is clean and tidy, the toilets are well maintained, my only grump is the food prices.

“All in the setting”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

As the title says, the tearooms are situated in the most beautiful grounds of the castle. We were lucky that we visited on a glorious sunny afternoon. Our tea and cakes were faultless and what impressed was the constant clearing and tidying up, to ensure that the appearance in the garden was always pristine. A little pricey perhaps but to be expected in an establishment of this nature. We were served with a smile and not rushed at all. Most relaxing!
