Our visits to this beach have all been during the off season (winter - early spring) and the shop and cafe are both quite good and there are clean toilets available during the day too.
Parking is the bugbear though. It used to be free during the week October to March and not that much at weekends. The manned booth has been replaced with machines that now want £1 per hour all the time which does put me off especially if only popping in to the shop, loo or occasional picnic. The views to the Isle of Wight are great on clear days. The beach is slightly gritty in parts and often windy which suits kite flyers and sailboarders. I have seen surfing but the waves are often small here. There is on-street parking out of season round the corner a short walk east of the shop if you're watching the pennies or have a lifelong dislike of paying to park like me.

Have been visiting this beach since 1975 and although there have been some changes - notably the paved walk through to Mudeford Quay- it is still a great family beach. It was a glorious, warm and sunny day on the 16th and the place was crowded, with a good atmosphere. One beach shop, so not over-commercialised, and food and good ice cream available.

Great views across to The Needles, lovely beach with mixture of pebbles and sand. Was great to be able to take our dog on the beach (on lead) and a fair amount of bins around for disposal of dog waste. The little shop next to The Noisy Lobster has pretty much anything you could think of needing and there is a cafe at the other end of the beach so no shortage of provisions or toilets!

A lovely, easy stroll form Mudeford Quay along Avon Beach. Walk is flat and level, beach is clean and the whole place is full of character.
